Well, well, well…UFC champ Jon Jones arrested for DUI after totalling his Bentley.

I remember hearing in the past about Jon Jones snitching on his friends for smoking marijuana. I remember Jon Jones saying he wanted to be a role model. I remember just last month, in an interview with USA Today, he said:

I’m very comfortable with the UFC putting me out there and trying to use me as one of the guys to promote the sport and bring it to a new level. I’m honored that they respect that I’ll do well by the opportunity.

I think if I was a knucklehead and I was a guy who you would have to worry about getting a DWI or going out and doing something really stupid, they simply wouldn’t promote me. I think they see the guy that I am and they trust that, even though I’m a 24-year-old, I’m a trustworthy 24-year-old. I’m a company guy and they trust in me.

Today, TMZ reported that Jon “Bones” Jones was arrested for DUI and totaled his Bentley automobile that he was so proud of. I remember him posting a picture of the car when he bought it:

Yikes..

Dana White: Mark Hunt NOT an Option to Replace Alistair Overeem at UFC 146 | 5thRound.com

The #RallyForMarkHunt movement can’t hold a candle to the social media skills of Caine’s Arcade. Unlike the nine-year-old wonder who created an arcade out of cardboard and tripled his $50,000 goal of earning donations towards his collage education, fans’ efforts to score Mark Hunt (Pictured) a title shot against UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos won’t be nearly as successful.

While Dana White is fully aware the Nevada State Athletic Commission could still grant Alistair Overeem his fight license to challenge dos Santos, despite the fact he registered more than twice the legal limit for testosterone in a random drug test, the UFC president isn’t holding his breath the May 26th scrap will come to fruition.

Regardless, don’t expect for Hunt to receive the promotion should Overeem be pulled from the show’s featured attraction.

“[Fans] can keep rallying. It ain’t going to happen,” White flatly stated during Saturday’s ‘UFC on FUEL TV 2? post-fight press conference.

If Hunt can get past Stefan Struve at UFC 146, White said he’ll then be assigned a Top 5 foe. A victory after that and maybe the organization will consider granting him a title shot.

Overeem is scheduled to stand before the NSAC on April 24th. The UFC will not announce who dos Santos’ opponent will be until after the results from the hearing.

UFC 146 takes place May 26th inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Contract threatens Florida fighter’s entry to UFC – MMA News

Yoislandy ‘Cuba’ Izquierdo is a dreamer. Born in communist Cuba under the oppressive Castro regime, Izquierdo dreamed of one day being free and not suffering under the whims of a dictator that controlled his every move. In 2008 that dream became a reality when Izquierdo defected from Cuba and came to the United States. After arriving in South Florida, Izquierdo soon began training to chase after a new dream, the dream of one day fighting in the UFC.

But today that dream is in danger because of the fighter’s previous professional home, Championship Fighting Alliance, (CFA) and what Izquierdo’s manager Alfred Munoz believes are unfair practices of the promotion.

Brazilians Win The Main Events @ UFC RIO

A good night of fights for the UFC in Rio! I am always happy to see Vitor Belfort victorious, and especially so tonight after the weigh-in failure of Anthony Johnson.

Jose Aldo continues to amaze. His knockout of Chad Mendes came at 4:59 of round 1…and it fairly spectacular fashion, with that knee from out of nowhere. Good stuff. Was also awesome to see him run into the crowd and wrestle security guards who were trying to protect him…lol.

Oh, and Rousimar Palhares is still nuts. Awesome, but nuts. He won by tapout due to a leglock, quick.

I’m watching the post-fight press conference as well, but it’s pretty much all in Portuguese, so I have no idea what they’re saying.

Whoa! UFC 141 Lesnar vs. Overeem – Results+

Wow, I’m not sure why Brock didn’t try harder for the takedowns. I’m obviously in no place to coach, but I saw him trying to trade strikes with Overeem way more than I would’ve thought. In fact, I think it was Brock Lesnar who threw the first kick of the fight. I figured on Lesnar charging like a bull at Overeem and driving him to the ground. Regardless, it didn’t work out well for Brock. Overeem hurt him several times with knees to the body, and ended it with a good shin to the liver which crumbled Lesnar to the ground, where Alistair Overeem TKO’d him. Overeem will now face Junior Dos Santos for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Brock Lesnar announced his retirement from MMA in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

In the co-main event, Nate Diaz pretty much dominated Donald Cerrone with his boxing. Diaz won via unanimous decision after three rounds.

The rest of the night went like this:

Johny Hendricks def. Jon Fitch via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 0:12
Alexander Gustafsson def. Vladimir Matyushenko via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 2:13
Jim Hettes def. Nam Phan via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-25, 30-26)
Ross Pearson def. Junior Assuncao via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Danny Castillo def. Anthony Njokuani via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Dong Hyun Kim def. Sean Pierson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Jacob Volkmann def. Efrain Escudero via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Diego Nunes def. Manny Gamburyan via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Frank Mir Breaks Big Nogueira’s Arm.

I hated seeing it happen, even though I didn’t have a favorite for a winner. Big Nog had Frank Mir dazed with punches in the early part of the fight, almost to the point of referee Herb Dean stopping the fight. Ultimately, they ended up rolling around doing some jiu-jitsu, and Frank Mir caught Nogueira in a kimura and broke off his arm from his shoulder. Brutal. Game over. Get well soon Big Nog!

Georges St. Pierre Injured. Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit Now Scheduled to Determine Interim Champion

Damn. I am very disappointed that the GSP vs. Nick Diaz fight won’t be happening soon. St. Pierre blew out his ACL and will be out of competition for 10 months according to everything I’ve heard. I was really looking forward to seeing him fight Nick Diaz. The Diaz/Condit fight should be good also, and will be for the interim UFC welterweight championship, but still nowhere near as interesting as Diaz/GSP. Maybe St. Pierre can take these 10 months and put on some weight to move up and fight Anderson Silva for the “Superfight” some people have been talking about for a couple of years now.

Mayhem Miller Got Owned…His Gas Tank…Michael Bisping by TKO Round 3.

Wow, I didn’t expect that to happen. After Miller got the takedown and took round one rather easily, I can’t believe how gassed he was in round two and three. Michael Bisping seemed gassed too, but not bad enough he couldn’t beat on Jason Miller’s head quite a bit. (Here are the stats). Bisping scored a TKO win in the third round when Miller turtled up and just kept taking a beating. Some unfortunate dude on Sherdog forum supposedly put up a $7000 bet for Miller to win. Damn.

Leben Suspended After UFC 138

Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (“the UFC®”), today released information stating that middleweight fighter Chris Leben tested positive for Oxycodone and Oxymorphone following his Nov. 5 loss to Mark Munoz in the main event of UFC® 138 in Birmingham, England.

As a result of the positive test, Leben will be suspended from fighting for one (1) year.

“I like Chris and I want him to do well, but based on his actions, he’s been suspended for one year,” UFC President Dana White said. “If he needs professional help, we are going to be there for him. We want to see him succeed not only in the Octagon, but in his personal life.”

“I would like to make it known that I fully accept this suspension and apologize for embarrassing the UFC, my friends and family, and sport of mixed martial arts,” Leben said. “I’m learning that I’m my own worst enemy sometimes. I can’t succeed in the Octagon or in life behaving this way. I’ve got to make some real changes over the next year and I’m going to focus on getting my life and career back on track. Again, I’m sorry to the UFC and fans that’ve supported me since my days on The Ultimate Fighter.”

The remaining 19 fighters on the UFC® 138 card all passed their post fight drug tests.

Chael Sonnen vs. Mark Munoz, UFC on FOX 2, January 28 2012.

Meh…I’m not super excited for this fight, although I don’t want to see Chael Sonnen lose before Anderson Silva is healed up and ready to fight. A rematch between Silva and Chael Sonnen MUST happen. Mark Munoz is a dangerous fighter for anyone, and he might take Chael’s chance at a rematch. Evidently Mark Munoz and Chael Sonnen wrestled each other at some point in college, and Munoz outwrestled him? I don’t really think that will happen in their fight on January 28th.
