UFC 116 Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin

UFC 116 was a great show, in my opinion. I was hoping for a Shane Carwin win, but Brock Lesnar definitely earned respect tonight. He got his ass kicked in the first round, and came back to submit Carwin with an arm-triangle choke. Impressive.

The show started off good with the free prelims and the brutal fight between Seth Petruzelli and Ricardo Romero. Seth was tossing grenades at Ricardo Romero, but Romero was just eating them up and ended up damn near breaking Petruzellis arm to end the fight in round 2.

The results from UFC 166 are:

Jonathan Madsen defeats Karlos Vemola by Decision
Daniel Roberts defeats Forrest Petz by Decision
Gerald Harris defeats Dave Branch by SLAM KO 3rd round @ 2:35
Kendall Grove defeats Goran Reljic Split Decision
Ricardo Romero defeats Seth Petruzelli by brutal armbar 2nd round 3:05
Brendan Schaub defeats Chris Tuchscherer by TKO/RSC 1st 1:07
George Sotiropoulos defeats Kurt Pellegrino by Unanimous Decision
Stephan Bonnar defeats Krzysztof Soszynski first TKO/RSC 1st 3:08
Chris Lytle defeats Matt Brown by armbar in 2nd round @ 2:02
Chris Leben defeats Yoshihiro Akiyama by Triangle 3rd round @ 4:40
Brock Lesnar defeats Shane Carwin by Arm Triangle 2nd round @ 2:19

UFC 111 Pre-Fight Press Conference

Shane Carwin hasn’t showed up.

Dana says the winner of Mir/Carwin will fight Brock Lesnar this summer.

Lots of press kissing Dana’s ass, one begging for free tickets.

UFC considering an event in Orlando (THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN).

I think some chick just asked Frank Mir to choke her out.

Someone asked Dana about Jake Shields and Fedor Emelianko… Dana says he likes Jake and its obvious that Strikeforce is trying to get him beat by having him fight at 185lbs when he’s the 170lb champ. As for Fedor, Dana says it’s all about negotiations not working out.

Seth Petruzelli gets a shout-out from someone in the audience who asks about bringing him back to fight Kimbo. — I like this.

Lots of people asking for autographs…props to Dana White and the fighters for being patient and signing stuff.

FightZone TV To Air Art Of Fighting Event featuring Kimbo Slice Slayer Seth Petruzelli

The Event will be held At USF Sun Dome in Tampa, FL on August 22nd and taped for a later airing.

Art of Fighting is proud to present its fourth mixed martial arts (MMA) event in the state of Florida and its first event in Tampa Bay. After three successful events in Sarasota, to include the first ever MMA light heavyweight Florida State Title, Art of Fighting has put together a bout worthy of a large scale venue in Tampa. Marcio “Pe de Pano” Cruz vs. Tom “Trauma” Sauer for the first ever WFO World Title and a Headline Bout worthy of large scale attention, Seth “The Silverback” Petruzelli vs. Tampa Area police officer Chris Baten.

CRUZ VS. SAUER
Sherdog.com, the most visited MMA website, rated this fight one of the top 10 in the WORLD to see!

Marcio Cruz is a 6’4″ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom who has conquered the world’s best fighters inside the cage to include current UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, UFC Veteran Dan Christison, and Japanese legend Mu Bae Choi. However Marcio Cruz is better known in the Jiu-Jitsu community as a six time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, 5 time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion, and 8 time Pan-American Champion. Also as a world class grappler, “Pe de Pano” has defeated Jeff “The Snowman” Monson, Roger Gracie, Paulo Filho, Marcelo Gracie, and many others.

Tom Sauer is a 6’1″ Greco Roman Wrestler with outstanding striking and submission ability. He has over 40 professional MMA fights and has beaten some of the best in the world including Jeff “The Snowman” Monson, Enson Inoue, Crafton Wallace and many more in his 30 professional wins. “Trauma” is on a 5 fight win streak and has hoisted himself as the hands down number one heavyweight in the state of Florida and possibly on the east coast. What may be more astonishing is Tom Sauer has Tourette syndrome. Outside of the cage he has very noticeable symptoms but inside the cage he is focused and poised as a possible world champion should be. Tom Sauer was featured on the VS channel Tapout show (Season 2 Episode 9) as the trainer of the recent winner of the Florida State Light Heavyweight Title Holder, TJ Cook.

This bout will be the first ever WFO(World Fighting Organization) world title. The WFO is the same sanctioning body as the IBO (International Boxing Organization), who’s boxing champions include Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao, Vladimir “Dr. Steelhammer” Klitschko, and Chad Dawson. The IBO is looking to sanction MMA and aid in its lacking rank structure. Many believe the future of the sport is run through sanctioning bodies like the IBO and the Art of Fighting is proud to host the first ever World Title for the WFO.

PETRUZELLI VS. BATEN

Seth Petruzelli is a seasoned MMA fighter with appearances in the WEC, UFC, and EliteXC. Petruzelli is well known as the “Kimbo Killer” after his October 2008 destruction of street fighting youTube star Kimbo Slice. Petruzelli wasn’t even scheduled to fight Kimbo, but after a cut opened above MMA legend Ken Shamrock’s eye, Seth “The Silverback” Petruzelli stepped in to fill his spot and fill it he did. Now seen as the “Rocky” of MMA, Petruzelli KO’d Slice in an astonishing 14 seconds of the first round in front of a stunned crowd of millions on CBS. The August 22 bout at the USF SUN DOME will be Petruzelli’s first fight since defeating Kimbo Slice.

Chris Baten is no Kimbo. Baten is a seasoned MMA fighter who has made appearances in the now extinct IFL. At 205 lbs. Baten will be an entirely different opponent for Petruzelli as fans should expect to see a standup war. Baten is also a Tampa Area police officer who has a large following in the area. Baten will seek to defeat a big time name in the sport cementing his name as one of the world’s best fighters.

OTHER MATCHUPS
Other matchups include the IFL vet Delson “Pe de Chumbo” Heleno versus the heavy handed pride of Kansas Tyler Stinson. This fight is going to be extremely exciting as Stinson has already put on a great show of skill in his first AOF vicotry against the Swiss Muay Thai Champion Yasubey Enomoto. Delson Heleno is an extremely well rounded fighter who brings a nuclear amount of energy into the cage. These two fighters are amongst some of the other elite athletes to be in the Sun Dome on August 22.

UPDATE:

EliteXC star American Top Team Trainer, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo black belt Nicolae “Armor” Cury slated to fight WEC vet Justin Haskins at 170 lbs.

Lightweight State Champion, Eric Reynolds has been just added to the card to fight Ireland’s Greg Loughran. Both fighters did a short stint on ESPN Deportes’ Bellator Promotion. Eric is the Florida State Lightweight Champion, the belt is not on the line since Loughran is not from Florida.

TV
AMP Film Studios, a division of Active Media partners, has negotiated a distribution agreement for Art of Fighting 4 – Cruz vs. Sauer. The show, produced by AMP Film Studios Creative Director, Edward Isin, will be available in its entirety in over 44 million homes in the US, Canada, and parts of Mexico and the Caribbean using Pay Per View On Demand services on popular cable and Telco outlets, including ATT Uverse, Verizon Fios, Time Warner, Cox Communications, Comcast and More.

UFC 100 Results & Opinion

Why was Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago the final fight? Regardless, Fitch won a unanimous decision.

Brock Lesnar looked great again, as he did against Couture. He smashed his way through Frank Mir for a 2nd round TKO. We need to see a Part III to make Lesnar/Mir a trilogy.

I’m very glad Georges St. Pierre was victorious over Thiago Alves. It will be interesting to see who GSP fights next. Anderson Silva?

Dan Henderson absolutely smashed Michael Bisping into unconsciousness. Hendo landed his trademark overhand right to Bispings jaw and knocked him out, but wait, there’s more! (I typed that with pitchman Billy May’s voice in my head). After Bisping was already on his back KO’d, Dan Henderson flies in (literally, his whole body in the air) with a gnarly forearm smash to Bispings face, all 185lbs of Dan Henderson came crashing down on Bispings dome. Bisping laid there asleep for several minutes.

Yoshihiro Akiyama defeated Alan Belcher by judges decision

I’m glad to see Mark Coleman defeated Stephan Bonner by decision. I’m not happy that they didn’t show the fight on the PPV broadcast. Sounds like Coleman’s gas tank was ok?

Jim Miller defeated Mac Danzig by decision.

Jon Jones submitted Jake O’Brien by guillotine in round 2

Dong Hyun Kim defeated T.J. Grant by decision.

Shannon Gugerty defeated Matt Grice by guillotine choke in round one.

Tom Lawlor got submission of the night for his guillotine victory over CB Dollaway in round one. Tom Lawlor also had the weirdest entrance of the night (VIDEO BELOW–and the guy on the leash in the video is Seth Petruzelli).

EliteXC/Pro Elite Out Of Business — Where will Kimbo & Gina Go?

Wow, that didn’t take long. Seth Petruzelli single-handedly took down EliteXC  by knocking out their primary superstar, Kimbo Slice, in 14 seconds. Not only that, but there was controversy after the fight when it was found out that EliteXC paid Seth Petruzelli to keep the fight standing up. It sounds like the EliteXC parent company, Pro Elite, is officially done now, with the November 8th show cancelled and a fight between Nick Diaz and Eddie Alvarez that will not happen on that date.

It will be interesting to see where some of the EliteXCstar fighters end up. Gina Carano will probably go to Affliction. What will happen with Kimbo Slice? Will we ever see Gina Carano vs. Cristiane Cyborg?

Seth Petruzelli Knocks Out Kimbo Slice

…and with that, EliteXC’s major investment takes a hit, but they’re already giving Kimbo excuses. Mauro Renallo suggests giving Kimbo a “mulligan” for taking the fight on short notice and Seth Petruzelli filling in for Ken Shamrock. I want to see the replay again, because supposedly Jarrod Shaw can be seen in the background screaming something to the referee…probably not wanting to see his companies biggest star lose.

Seth Petruzelli To Replace Injured Ken Shamrock Against Kimbo Slice

A reliable source has confirmed that Seth Petruzelli will be fighting Kimbo Slice in place of an injured Ken Shamrock at tonights EliteXC event live on CBS.

WARRRRR SILVERBACK PETRUZELLI FTMFW!

Ken Shamrock Injured; Will Not Fight Kimbo Slice Tonight?

According to MMARated.com, Shamrock was cut above his eye and doctors wouldn’t clear him to fight. Damn. But there is some hope! MMARated has updated their site to say that EliteXC may have found a doctor to give Shamrock the OK to fight, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and also they say Seth Petruzelli was offered as a replacement. Seth Petruzelli, in my opinion, has a better chance of kicking Kimbo’s ass. Frank Shamrock is also rumored to have stepped up and volunteered, but will not be fighting.
