Georges St. Pierre Injured. Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit Now Scheduled to Determine Interim Champion

Damn. I am very disappointed that the GSP vs. Nick Diaz fight won’t be happening soon. St. Pierre blew out his ACL and will be out of competition for 10 months according to everything I’ve heard. I was really looking forward to seeing him fight Nick Diaz. The Diaz/Condit fight should be good also, and will be for the interim UFC welterweight championship, but still nowhere near as interesting as Diaz/GSP. Maybe St. Pierre can take these 10 months and put on some weight to move up and fight Anderson Silva for the “Superfight” some people have been talking about for a couple of years now.

GSP Georges St. Pierre Injured; UFC 137 Fight With Carlos Condit Cancelled

Cancelled…or at least postponed. Evidently GSP sprained his knee while sparring, and won’t be able to fight at UFC 137 against Carlos Condit as planned. The main event of UFC 137 will now be Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn. I was more looking forward to the Diaz/Penn fight anyway…and originally I was more excited for a GSP/Diaz fight, but of course that didn’t happen because of Nick Diaz being a no-show at press conferences. In my opinion, that fight never should’ve been cancelled, not that it matters, GSP maybe would’ve been injured anyway.

My picks: Strikeforce: San Jose: Diaz vs. Cyborg

My picks have been terrible recently. I”m only picking the televised fights.

As always, best of luck to all the fighters, but here are my predictions:

Nick Diaz over Evangelista Santos
Ronaldo “Jacare” De Souza over Robbie Lawler
Herschel Walker over Scott Carson
Roger Gracie over Trevor Prangley

This Strikeforce Event Is Going To Be Great…

I am anxiously awaiting the event to start. This card is full of potentially great fights. Here are my picks to win:

BOBBY LASHLEY VS WES SIMS – I would love to see Wes Sims win this, but he won’t. Bobby Lashley will take him down and get the win.

HERSCHEL WALKER VS GREG NAGY – Herschel FTW.

ROBBIE LAWLER VS MELVIN MANHOEF – This fight will end in an awesome way. I would *like* to see Robbie Lawler win this, and I believe he can KO Manhoef, but we’ll see. Someone is getting KO’d.

CRISTIANE CYBORG SANTOS VS MARLOES COENEN – Hmmm.. can anyone really beat Cyborg? I would like to see Marloes win, but I don’t really see it happening.

NICK DIAZ VS MARIUS ZAROMSKIS – I want Diaz to win this. I don’t know much about Zaromskis, except that he has awesome striking (kicks in particular) and does some cool backflips during his fights. He could KO Diaz, but I’ve never seen Diaz KO’d, and I don’t think it will happen tonight.

Strikeforce: Nick Diaz vs. Frank Shamrock

Dude I’ve been looking forward to this fight more than most in recent months. I’m also hoping Nick Diaz kicks that ass jiu-jitsu style to defend his Sensei.

Alistair Overeem in the audience. Wasn’t he just in the UFC audience earlier this year?

Brett Rogers vs. Abongo Humphrey to start the show off.
Round one is going pretty good until Herb Dean stops to warn Brett Rogers about grabbing Humphrey’s dreadlocks. I say bullshit. Humphrey was in a thai clinch, and Rogers just about can’t help but get a palm full of hair when he’s clinching. Herb Dean took a point away from Rogers. Crappy call, imo.

Kevin Randleman in the house, hugging it out with Mickey Rourke.

Round two sees Brett Rogers crush Abongo Humphreys with knees before referee Herb Dean stops the fight, giving Brett Rogers a TKO victory, and he remains undefeated.

Hitoni Akano vs. Cris Cyborg
Cyborg kicked Hitoni Akanos ass for 2.5 rounds before getting a TKO victory in round 3.

Benji Radach vs. Scott Smith
Someone is getting knocked out in this fight. It’s over now, and Scott Smith was getting his ass kicked for most of the fight, and landed a gnarly right hand to comeback and win by knockout over Benji Radach…LOL @ Smith thanking mis masseuse Tom Atencio at the post-fight interview.

Gilbert Melendez vs. Rodrigo Damm
I’d like to see Rodrigo Damm win this. But he didn’t. Gilbert Melendez got the KO victory in round 2. Rodrigo Damm got KTFO. Melendez is now the interim lightweight champion.

Nick Diaz vs. Frank Shamrock
One thing you can be sure of, is that Nick Diaz will give a middle finger at some point tonight. Round one was good, I score it in Diaz’ favor. He got the fight to the ground and controlled it, even gaining mount and throwing down some punches at the end of the round.

Nick Diaz TOTALLY dominated round 2 and got a TKO victory after making Shamrock’s face a bloody mess and dropping him to the mat against the canvas, where Shamrock didn’t defend himself and the referee had to stop the fight. Diaz immediately offered his hand to help Shamrock off the mat. Contrary to what I said previously, I haven’t seen Diaz give anybody the bird yet.

EliteXC/Pro Elite Out Of Business — Where will Kimbo & Gina Go?

Wow, that didn’t take long. Seth Petruzelli single-handedly took down EliteXC  by knocking out their primary superstar, Kimbo Slice, in 14 seconds. Not only that, but there was controversy after the fight when it was found out that EliteXC paid Seth Petruzelli to keep the fight standing up. It sounds like the EliteXC parent company, Pro Elite, is officially done now, with the November 8th show cancelled and a fight between Nick Diaz and Eddie Alvarez that will not happen on that date.

It will be interesting to see where some of the EliteXCstar fighters end up. Gina Carano will probably go to Affliction. What will happen with Kimbo Slice? Will we ever see Gina Carano vs. Cristiane Cyborg?

Nick Diaz vs…. Thomas Denny?

Nick Diaz was supposed to be fighting Hayato “Mach” Sakurai at DREAM, but Gary Shaw forced Diaz to withdraw from that fight so he could schedule a Diaz vs. KJ Noons rematch for a live EliteXC show on CBS. However, for some reason KJ Noons isn’t going to fight Diaz, and has been replaced with Thomas Denny. Big disappoinment.

Don’t get me wrong, Thomas Denny is a veteran fighter, and may possibly even be a tougher opponent for Diaz, but it’s just not the rematch fans wanted to see, especially after the altercation with Karl Noons, Sr. and the Noons posse at the last EliteXC show.

The Diaz/Denny EliteXC event will be in Stockton, California — Nick Diaz’ hometown.

Dream III, LIVE right now! Mayhem Miller, Nick Diaz, Joachim Hansen & More

This should be a great event. I’m watching Dream III right now. I’ll do Play-By-Play as long as I’m awake and feeling like it. Maybe Jason Miller will have an awesome ring entrance. Also, it has the old PrideFC lady announcer with an awesome voice. I’m hoping to Nick Diaz, Jason Miller, Kawajiri, and Caol Uno win their fights. I also think I’d like to see Eddie Alvarez get a win. Wanna say something? Sign up on our MMA Forum and start a conversation!

  1. Shoji Maruyama vs. Takeshi Yamazaki
Round One: Some ground n pound (mostly slapping) from Yamazaki in round one. Bas saw some liver shots. He mentioned the Liver Shot drinking game. Every time he says “liver” someone should take a drink. Shoji Maruyama has some decent defense, and he hits back once in a while. They’re back on their feet and Shoji Maruyama takes down Yamazaki now and kneed him in the face, but now it was reversed again and Yamazaki is back in side control, and now full mount. Wow, now a strong reversal by Maruyama and he’s on top in Yamazakis guard, Shoji hits hard and they’re back on their feet for now. Yamazaki is holding Shoji in the corner and hoping to take the fight back down to the mat, and he is successful, now in Shoji Maruyama’s half guard. The referee drags them to the middle of the ring. Back to their feet for a second and Maruyama lands a nasty knee to the body (or as Bas Rutten says again, the liver). Dude that round ended nicely, Maruyama ended up in an armbar somehow and fought his way out of it, his arm looked like it would be over but he escaped. Bas said “no beer drinking with the left arm tonight.” — Round 1 is over.Round 2: starts and Shoji Maruyama goes for a flying knee but misses. He is now in Yamazaki’s half guard and looking for strikes but lets Yamazaki reverse, and now Yamazaki is in Shoji’s half guard. Yamazaki is took a kick to the face, and is taking several punches to the face in an attempt to score a takedown by clinching with Shoji. As the fight ends, Yamazaki scored some good takedowns and a good submission attempt, but ate alot of hard strikes from Maruyama. The judges score the fight with Yamazaki as the winner.
  2. Jason “Mayhem” Miller vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Round 1: Jason Miller comes out showcasing his breakdancing skills. I think he already used up alot of his cardio during the ring entrance. he came out with a fat gold chain and hip hop style. The dude he’s fighting is wearing Dan Severn’s underwear. Jason Miller begins the fight in a karate stance, and at one point while in full mount lands a mongolian chop with a KIA sound I think. Also, HOLY SHIT this fight is brutal. Jason Mayhem Miller just totally destroyed homeboy. I even heard Shibata groan in pain after a few of the strikes. The dude’s face took a severe beating via hard knees and undefended punches, and Shibata wouldn’t tap out or be knocked out. I felt sorry for Shibata, it was painful to watch. The referee finally stepped in and stopped the fight (TKO) in round 1. Mayhem Miller spoke after the fight and said in Japanese “I am a demon, I am a ghost, I am a Super Monkey”.
  3. Melvin Manhoef vs. Dae Won Kim
Round 1: Dae Won Kim presses the action against Manhoef and and looks for a takedown. The ref breaks it up and theyre on their feet. Manhoef throws blows but gets knocked upside the dome by a right hand from Dae Won Kim. Manhoef eats some more punches and ends up on the ground and gets mounted. Manhoef escapes and gets side control. OUCH a hard knee to the head of Kim. Follwed by hammerfists, the referee stops the fights at 4:08 of round 1. Melvin Manhoef winner.
  4. **I’m starting to get sleepy. It’s nearly 5am here. I might lay off the PBP for now and just sit back and watch the fights until I fall asleep.

  5. Daisuke Nakamura vs. Bu Kyung Jung
Round 1: Jujitsu, dawg. Chess. This fight will probably go to a decision. These dudes are working hard, going for all kinds of armbars and submissions, sweet takedowns, leglocks and stuff, i’m sleepy, kick to da face. side control.
Round 2: More of the same, but wow, the fight ended by KO, Nakamura is the winner by punch upside the chin.
  6. Nick Diaz vs. Katsuya Inoue
Round 1: I wonder if Nick Diaz is able to score weed in Japan? Inoue says he’s going to beat Diaz with Ground ‘n Pound. Nick Diaz is wearing an EliteXC shirt to the ring. THE FIGHT STARTS, fast paced, a lot of punching and kicking from Nick Diaz, although he does get hit himself at times. Inoue is bleeding from his nose now. Nick Diaz is liking to throw body shots tonight, and it’s working for him. Ouch, he just nailed homeboy with 5 or 6 good shots to the body. Now he is on top in a weak Inoue half-guard, and Diaz is throwing blows down. Back to their feet now and against the ropes. Referee breaks them up for the doctors to look at Inoue’s nose. Action continues and they start hitting each other again. Back against the rops and now this is weird, Inoue was doing a handstand while Nick Diaz held his feet in a wheel-barrow position. The ref just handed a penalty out for something, I have no idea what. These dudes are slugging again now. Diaz got nailed by some punches but I think he’s OK. Nick Diaz continues to go for body shots. A lot. Uh oh now he’s landing shots to Inoue’s head and it looks like the fight is almost over. Inoue is out on his feet and getting tagged over and over. This is target practice for Nick Diaz now. Here comes the towel. Inoue’s corner threw in the towel.
  7. Luiz Firmino vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri
    Kawajiri by decision
  8. Eddie Alvarez vs. Joachim Hansen
Round 1: The fighters are just kinda feeling each others gameplans out right now, Eddie Alvarez lands a good low kick and a right hand, uh oh Joachim Hansen hits the mat. He seems to be ok and pulls guard, looking for a submission, gogoplata? Alvarez is back to his feet. More punches, Hansen tries a takedown unsuccessfully, he seems to be punching well now. Hansen pulls guard for a second but both fighters are standing up agai, Hansen got hit again with the right hand! Hitting each other in the body now. Eddie Alvarez has a bloody nose, another good right hand from Alvarez to the body of Hansen.. both dudes are hitting each other now and Alvarez gets another takedown, hetakes an upkick from Hansen, Hansen lands a straight left hand to Alvarez jawpiece, more punches are traded and Joachim Hansen actually looks to be in better shape right now.
Round 2: Joachim Hansen lands a knee to the body and trips Eddie Alvarez to the mat. Eddie gets back to his feet but is stuck in a guillotine. He’s out of the choke but Hansen is looking for armbars and submissions from his guard. Damn Eddie Alvarez’ arm is bending he might be in trouble, he escapes though. Joachim Hansen still trying submissions. They’re back to their feet, Eddie Alvarez pushes Hansen against the ropes and tries for a takedown. BIG right hand from Eddie Alvarez at the end of the fight. This is a tough one to call, Eddie Alvarez clearly got the best strikes though. The ringside judges give Eddie Alvarez a unanimous decision victory, even though Joachim Hansen won round 2.
  9. Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Caol Uno
Caol Uno by submission (Rear Naked Choke)

Kimbo Slice, Nick Diaz, EliteXC: Renegade

Well we’re going to get to see Kimbo Slice take on Bo Cantrell (10-10 mma) tonight, and we also get to see Nick “Bonghit” Diaz versus Muay Thai fighter KJ Noons. I may not be at the computer the whole time, as I plan to watch the fights, but I might sit down here sometimes to give a bit of play-by-play, or at least make some smartass comments.

Oh and go sign up for the new MMA Forum and post something. Damnit.

Obviously I would like to see Nick Diaz win one for ‘heads everywhere, as for Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, meh, I don’t really care either way. I think they’re feeding him Bo Cantrell and I don’t see Cantrell being able to win this fight. As for Kimbo, “all day, all day.”

First fight of the show looks like it’s gonna be Antonio Silva vs. Jonathan Wiezorek. I would absolutely love to see Antonio Silva’s oversized head get KO’d by Wiezorek, but damn, that might be hard for Wiezorek to do. I kind of consider Wiezorek a homeboy, since he’s from Valdosta, Georgia, but Antonio Silva hits hard and has an abnormally caveman-like chin and forehead. And indeed, Silva took him down and GNP’d him to a TKO. Jonathan Wiezorek loses (on his wife’s birthday).

Next up we have Dr. Seth Kleinbeck vs. Kyle Noke. I got Dr. Seth Kleinbeck winning this one by stethoscope strangle. Ok I actually don’t know anything about him except that he’s a family physician in Arkansas. The dude he’s fighting works for the Crocodile Hunter’s family. First round is over, good round, hard to say who won. The doctor got a takedown and landed some decent strikes, Crocodile Hunter went for some submissions but didn’t sink anything solid. 2nd round starts, Dr. Kleinbeck is taken down, now Kyle Noke has his back and is looking for a choke, has his hooks in, Kleinbeck still defending the choke. Dr. Kleibeck reverses and is now in Noke’s guard. Referee stands them up for some reason, not really sure why, but I don’t care. Back on their feet now, Noke shoots and takes Kleinbeck down again, the doctor is on his back with Noke in his guard. Oh oh, the doctor is cut over his left eye. Oh damn, it’s a nasty cut too, they’re stopping this fight. Dr. Homeboy has a giant gash above his left eye, reminiscent of Marvin Eastman. So, winner is Kyle Noke by doctor stoppage.

I think Bill Goldberg is the same person as Bill Duff from Human Weapon. They seem exactly the same.

Next fight up is Jake Shields and Mike Pyle, this could be a good one. I see Shields getting a win here, via submission. Although I’m not doing to well tonight with my picks, so we’ll see. Yep, Jake Shields wins by RNC, round 1.

How hurtly were you bad?” – Bill Goldberg

UP NEXT: KIMBO SLICE! Word=bond. Dats how a brotha eat. +1 for bread (also, beard). Kimbo is sporting an ultra-awesome light-blue do-rag on his head. Has his posse behind him and he looks focused backstage. In a recent interview he said he used to smoke weed before all his backyard fights, but now that he’s a pro fighter he claims he doesn’t smoke anymore. Kimbo is walking to the cage by himself, nobody behind him. Takes off his gold chain. Supposedly, Bas Rutten took Kimbo to the movies this afternoon to watch “American Gangster.”

Kimbo’s beard would beat Bo Cantrell’s goatee in a fight. Florida represent.

I don’t think Kimbo touched gloves with Cantrell. Fight started. Oh damn, Cantrell tried a spinning backfist right away and missed, then at 19 seconds into round 1 Kimbo knocks Cantrell OUT. Fight over. Kimbo isn’t even sweating, and he already has his gold chain back around his neck. I’m not sure if I’m convinced that fight was 100% legit, either.

“What’s next for Kimbo Slice? Whoever’s next. Real Talk.” – Kimbo Slice

Up next is Nick Diaz and KJ Noons. Diaz could be upset in this fight, I hope he hasn’t gotten too full of himself with his recent popularity surge, hopefully he’ll win in exciting fashion.

So far Diaz is getting owned during the first minute of the fight, hopefully he can turn this around. Noons is landing strikes and stopping takedowns though, Noons is punching great to Diaz’ body. Oh damn, Diaz is getting nervous I think, he just ate a knee trying to get a takedown, Diaz got the takedown but he’s cut, and KJ Noons escaped and got back to his feet. Nick Diaz is bleeding over his right eye now. I have a feeling this fight isn’t going to work out for Nick Diaz. If he can’t take Noons down and submit him, he’s going to lose. Diaz just got knocked on his ass. Diaz wants this fight on the ground but Noons will have none of it. Diaz is a bloody mess now. End of round 1, no doubt KJ Noons won that round.

The fight is over, the doctor looked at Nick Diaz’ cut and wouldn’t let him continue. Nick Diaz is pissed and has left the cage with his middle fingers in the air.

Winner by doctor stoppage: K.J. Noons, the new EliteXC 160lb Champion

Nick Diaz: “my fight career is getting in the way of my marijuana smoking”

Nick Diaz

LOL. How can anybody not like Nick Diaz? In an interview with TheSweetScience.com, Nick Diaz was asked about his Marijuana usage and his 2006 fight against Takanori Gomi. Nick Diaz won the fight, but was stripped of the victory after a post-fight piss test indicated he had elevated amounts of THC in his system.

In the interview, Diaz is quoted as saying “I feel it was done out of ignorance. The win was taken away from me because I smoke weed and that’s stupid,” said the 24-year old Diaz. “I’m a fighter and a martial artist. I feel martial artists and all artists in general could benefit from smoking weed and we should be able to smoke it all we want.”

Nick Diaz went on to say: “People say that marijuana is going to hurt my career. I say to them that on the contrary, my fight career is getting in the way of my marijuana smoking.”

Nick Diaz will fight KJ Noons for the EliteXC lightweight title this Saturday on Showtime from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Also on the fight card is internet sensation Kimbo Slice.

EliteXC: Nick Diaz, Ninja Rua, Robbie Lawler, EliteXC Middleweight Championship

WAR Diaz!

Currently fighting are Joey Villasenor and some cat named Fukuda. These guys slugged it out during the first round, good fight so far, some decent kicks and knees mixed in. Round 2 coming up, Fukuda shoots and fails, Villasenor elbows him to the jaw, then a little head kick. Damn, Fukuda’s right eye looks trashed. Damn, Joey Villasenor is owning round 2, there’s another headkick, Fukuda clinches, lands a good uppercut, clinches a body lock on Joey Villasenor, lands some knees to the side, not hurting Villasenor too much but I’m sure they’re adding up. Referree Steve Mazagatti starts them back in the center of the cage. Villasenor might be getting tired, Fukuda has the best of the last few exchanges, 90 seconds left in round 2. Over now, I say Round 2 was pretty much even. Round 3, more good fight action, it’s a judges split decision, winner of the fight: Joey Villasenor. The audience boos Joey Villasenor, so Bill Goldberg says again “Let’s Hear It For Joey Villasenor” and the crowd boos even louder. Haha. Split decisions suck.

Now we got a chick fight, Gina Carano vs. Tonya Evinger. Meh.. Gina is hot, but I’m not so into female MMA. Tonya Evinger says she used to beat up her brothers on the farm. Gina has excellent boobage, also Tony Evinger isn’t too bad looking herself. I’m not too sure what Maura Renallo and BilL Goldberg were talking about, but they mentioned poking these women with poles, and Mauro said he’d like to poke them with a 25 centimeter one.. WTF? Anyway, Evinger came out and shot on Carano quick and took her down, but now with 40 seconds left Carano has taken Tonya’s back and is looking for a rear naked choke, Tonya Evinger doesn’t seem to be doing anything except waiting for the round to end. 8 seconds left, IT’S OVER, Gina Carano wins by submission with just a few seconds left in Round 1. Mauro Renallo says “That fight lasted about as long as Lindsay Lohans rehab”. Haha, also, 25 centimeters = 9.8 inches, so what the hell was Mauro Renallo implying? Great stuff. That was a weird fight.

Hell yeah, next fight is Nick “Bonghit” Diaz vs. Mike Aina. LOL, Nick Diaz came out in a cloud of smoke during his entrance. Damn, even referee Steve Mazagatti looks stoned tonight. The first round was all stand-up, no ground work. Aina came out striking, but it was a close round, he hit Diaz with some shots, but Diaz never seemed hurt. Diaz delivered a few knees as well, but he seems like his usual calm self right now. He doesn’t seem to worried. Round 2 in process now. Diaz got knocked down but immediately rolled and almost got an arm, they’re back on their feet now, Diaz is cut open, damn Nick Diaz should take this dude down and submit him. Diaz just throws his usual soft pawing punches, uh oh Diaz has him mounted with 30 seconds left in the round, 10 second, round over. Here comes round 3. I dig the EliteXC dancing chicks in between rounds. Nick Diaz finally decided to take Aina down with about 1:30 left in round 3, where he pretty much owned him and spent the rest of the round going for a RNC. As the bell rand, Diaz got an armbar but the fight was already over. Diaz held it just a secon after the bell to show he could’ve had it. Damnit, another judges decision. Surely they will give it to Nick Diaz, he obviously would’ve had homeboy tapped out if the 3rd round was 5 seconds longer. Another split decision, Winner of the fight: NICK DIAZ

Can’t wait to hear the results of Nick Diaz’ piss test. Do they piss test in Hawaii?

Main event next, Robbie Lawler vs. Murillo “Ninja” Rua. Hopefully these guys will throw some concrete fists. I’d like to see Ruthless Robbie Lawler KO Ninja Rua. We’ll see. Lawler with the wrestling takedown, has side mount, back to their feet. Round 1 is over, I give it to Lawler. Round 2 was another stand-up round, Rua seems to be the mroe tired fighter, this is scheduled for 5 rounds though, so we’ll see who lasts longer. I give round 2 to Lawler also. Here comes round 3. Robbie Lawler totally owned round 3 before connecting with a left uppercut that rocked Ninja Rua, then a couple right hands sent Rua to the mat where Robbie Lawler elbowed him to sleep. Winner and new EliteXC Middleweight Champion: ROBBIE LAWLER.

I hope Nick Diaz kicks Gomi’s ass at Pride 33: The Second Coming

I think this may be a tough fight tonight for Nick Diaz, and I have nothing against Gomi, I just want to see Nick Diaz win. Diaz is more entertaining to me, his smart-ass attitude is a plus.

I also would like to see Dan Henderson win his fight against Wanderlei Silva. Hopefully this will be another war.
