Joseph Lozito, the man being dubbed a hero for helping disarm and capture a New York man accused of going on a 28 hour stabbing spree, says that watching mixed martial arts fights for 20 years may have saved his life.

An awesome person has passed. RIP Jack LaLanne.

LOS ANGELES — Jack LaLanne, the fitness guru who inspired television viewers to trim down, eat well and pump iron for decades before diet and exercise became a national obsession, died Sunday. He was 96.

LaLanne died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia Sunday afternoon at his home in Morro Bay on California’s central coast, his longtime agent Rick Hersh said.

Outside a club in Austin, TX, and apparently some dude sucker-punched a women during a scuffle, and Roger Huerta saw it happen. He confronted dude, and ended up kicking his ass decently it seems.

TMZ broke the story earlier today. The video is not the the greatest quality, but here is a link to the video on TMZ. Oh, and Dana White says “Good for Roger” and agrees that the guywho hit the female, deserved to be KO’d.

Obviously, even though there have been some tremendous fights to talk about over the last couple of weeks, I haven’t made any posts. That will hopefully change soon. I have been extremely busy with other things, and I also need to get off my ass and upgrade everything on this site.

Off the top of my head, some things I’ve missed.

Tim Credeur and Nate Quarry are both badass.

UFC Fight Night 19 was great.

This season of The Ultimate Fighter looks like it really might be the best one yet.

Mayweather needs to fight someone his size. I was hoping for Pacquaio, but a Shane Mosely fight would be good too.

Herschel Walker signed a contract to fight for Strikeforce? I think it’s awesome, even though others are acting like they don’t care. I like watching these celebrities and non-MMA athletes get in the ring. I say non-MMA, but supposedly Herschel has been training MMA for several years now, and also has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

I’m sad for CroCop, but the dude is no doubt tough as nails, he took a serious beating, and it looked to me like he got his orbital bone broken, ouch.

I guess everybody wants to train MMA these days, it will be the most popular sport in the world one day. Matt Leinart might need a backup plan in case his NFL career doesn’t work out, and according to Yahoo Sports, he has been training MMA in the off-season in an effort to “improve Leinart’s toughness.”

Discovery Channel’s show Time Warp just did a couple of really cool segments on MMA. The premise of the show is to slow things down using a high speed camera, so we can see the slow motion effects. In tonights episode, they had Kenny Florian, Erin Toughill, Dave and Dan Camarillo. I don’t know when they’ll show a re-run, so check your TV listings, but it was really cool to see everything done in super slow motion.

Dude I think it’s been years since I’ve seen a Jean Claude Van Damme movie. Well, I watched part of a Bloodsport rerun a few weeks ago, but that’s it. Anyway, last night I rented some new movie of his called JCVD…it was great! It’s not the kind of Van Damme movie I would usually expect. He plays himself in the movie, a broke former star that has just lost custody of his daughter, and he goes back home to Belgium but ends up involved in a bank robbery.

This is one of the most awesome stories. These kids probably would have got their asses kicked if the cops hadn’t stopped them. Homeboy at the end says they just had the weapons so they would look “as ninja as possible.” Seriously, these dudes are awesome. Their names are Jesse Trojaniak and Tadeusz Pertkiewicz. They say they are “Shinobi Warriors, to be exact”.

Sunday, a crazy son of a bitch entered a church in Tennessee and started shooting people. A group of men at the church rushed at the shooter and tackled him, and one of the men, Jamie Parkey, claims he put the shooter in an armbar. Here is the quote from MSNBC:

“He had the gun leveled in our direction,” Parkey told TODAY’s Matt Lauer on Monday, one day after the gunman killed two church members and wounded six others before being wrestled to the ground by parishioners. “That’s when I pushed my mother and daughter to the floor and got under the pew. When I saw the men rushing him was when I got up to join them.”

Parkey was one of the people who tackled 58-year-old Jim D. Adkisson, kicking the shotgun away and holding the gunman on the floor with an arm-bar hold. Parkey’s 16-year-old daughter was in the play, and he had been sitting in the front of the church with his mother and his 6-year-old daughter when the attack began.

Ok, so that seems awesome. I’m assuming it was a straight armbar from side mount, considering there was a few guys that tackled the shooter. It is possible that Jamie Parkey was able to get side control and then go after the shooters arm, similar to how Matt Hughes nearly had Royce Gracie at UFC 60.

Jamie Parkey’s story seems more credible after I saw the shooter being walked out by police, with his arm in a sling.

Ok, maybe Frank Mir doesn’t explain his opinion perfectly, and I don’t agree with him on every point, but I do agree that the world would be a better place if decent humans carried weapons. If good citizens with weapons outnumbered violent criminals with weapons, there would be less violence.

However, Frank will not be allowed to use a weapon in his fight with Nogueira. Also, Joanne the MMA girl is hot. Oh and one more thing, sign up on our MMA Forums and post something, help it get started. We’re not as censored as some forums.

I’m not 100% sure where this fight took place (Xplosion 17?), but it looks like a nice way to end a fight. However, is this a knockout or did the guys toes poke him in the eye?
