Paul Daley and Kimbo Slice Cut From UFC Roster

As for Paul Daley, he clearly deserves to be banned. Dana White has said that Daley will never again fight in the UFC under any circumstances, even if he somehow becomes the #1 fighter in the world someday (which will never happen), Dana said he will still never allow Daley back in the UFC. I honestly don’t care if I ever see him fight again or not. I’ve never even bothered to give him his own category here on my blog.

Paul Daley showed absolutely nothing in the way of being a contender, as far as tonights fight goes. He lost every round to Josh Koscheck and was just easily dominated throughout the entire fight. Part of me wants to think Daley was just mad at himself for being so unprepared in this fight, and after being outclassed in every category and realizing he doesn’t have the skills to be a top contender, he felt he had to save face by sneaking up on Koscheck after the fight and SUCKER PUNCHING him from behind. LOL @ Paul Daley for not even being able to hurt Koscheck with a sucker punch from behind, especially after all the trash talking he did about being able to knock Koscheck out.

AS FOR KIMBO, I don’t think he deserves to be cut quite yet. Yes, he was dominated by Matt Mitrione, but Kimbo still has drawing power, and fans. Kimbo also has seemed to handle himself with class thus far into his pro MMA career. Kimbo could still sell tickets and draw good ratings for a non-PPV event.

Mauricio Shogun Rua New UFC Light Heavyweight Champion

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua defeated Lyoto Machida by KO in round 1, ending the controversy surrounding their first matchup, in which Lyoto Machida was awarded a decision victory, despite many people who thought Shogun should’ve been the winner. This was Machida’s first loss.

Josh Koscheck TOTALLY dominated the trash-talking Paul Daley, and won an easy decision victory. I don’t think Paul Daley really showed any offense at all, until after the fight was over, when he snuck up behind Josh Koscheck and sucker-punched him with a left hook to the face. Unbelievable. There really isn’t any excuse Daley can give for his actions. I’m sure he’ll try to say he was full of adrenaline, or maybe even make up a lie about Koscheck saying something rude to him during the fight… but who cares. Daley seems like scum.

In other results from UFC 113:

  1. John Salter defeats Jason McDonald after McDonald suffers a broken ankle in round one.

  7. Alan Belcher defeats Patrick Cote by rear naked choke, after a gnarly almost-piledriver.

  9. Jeremy Stephens defeats Sam Stout by decision.

Josh Koscheck vs. Paulo Thiago II – Any different this time?

Josh Koscheck will be fighting Paulo Thiago at UFC 109, or so they say. As you know nothing is ever confirmed until the last minute in MMA but you can be sure that this is going to be a great fight. I think that the result will be different this time however, or atleast I thinks so. I have many reasons for my thinking and I am going to go on and explain them after we take a look back to Febuary.

Paulo Thiago, knocks out Koscheck in dramatic fashion, in the very first round.  Recap done,  lets move on.

Why I think its going to be differnt this time:

  • Koscheck is coming off back to back wins over top contender Anthony  “Rumble” Johnson, fight of the night winner at UFC 106: Ortiz vs Griffin and a win over Frank Trigg earlier in the year.
  • Koscheck is pissed that he is not the next contender for the welterweight championship, leapfrogged by Dan Hardy after his win over Mick Swick at UFC 105, Manchester, England and a pissed off Koscheck is never a good thing for the person standing on the otherside of the cage.
  • Koshcheck has openly said that he wants to fight as much as possible, with the aim of proving to the world that he is the number one contender.

In conclusion, ladies and gentelmen Thiago better train his ass off for this fight, if it happens. Koscheck is on the warpath and it looks like a very large speeding train,  near impossible  to stop on current form.

UFC 106 Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin Quick Picks

I am picking…
Jason Dent over George Sotiropoulos
Caol Uno over Fabricio Camoes
Brock Larson over Brian Foster
Kendall Grove over Jake Rosholt
Ben Saunders over Marcus Davis
Amir Sadollah over Phil Baroni (this was a tough one for me, I really like Baroni, one of the greatest evah.)
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira over Luiz Cane
Jacob Volkmann over Paulo Thiago in an unexpect upset.
Anthony Johnson over Josh Koscheck – should be great, and it’s a tough one for me to pick, I tend to think Koscheck is getting KO’d here, but I would actually like to see him win.

and… Tito Ortiz is going to ground and pound Forrest Griffin on his way to another UFC title.

UFC Fight Night Thoughts…

First off, you should go to www.FightForTheTroops.com and donate something to the cause. This was a fantastic event with some awesome finishes and great fights.

Joe Rogan said Jim Miller is a freight train (aka Frate Trane?). Jim Miller definitely looked good, but how about Wiman’s chin? Holy crap that dude takes a punch.

Nate Loughran was taking some good shots from Tim Credeur too, but failed to answer the bell for round three.

OMG @ Razak Al-Hassan getting his arm torqued by Steve Cantwell. That looked nasty, I wanna see a .GIF… also, LOL @ putting a dude with an Al-Quaeda name in a “Fight For The Troops” show.

Damn, there have really been some good fights tonight, and some great finishes. Jonathan Goulet got mess up by that right hand, and Mike Swick adds another quick victory to his resume.

BRUTALITY Ben Saunders with those knees! Homeboy he was fighting, Brandon Wolff, didn’t have a chance once he ended up in that muay thai clinch.

And for the worst thing of the night, poor Corey Hill got his leg broke off. Gnarly gnarly gnarly. My thoughts are with him and I really hope he heals from that injury 100% and is able to fight again. That leg break is a limb-threatening injury.

UFC Fight Night For The Troops FREE Tonight on Spike TV

and my picks to win are:

Yoshida by submission
Swick by TKO
Steve Cantwell by KO
Tim Credeur vs. Nate Loughran – possible fight of the night? both seem to have nice submission skills. I’ll pick Credeur because I’ve seen more of his fights, thanks to the reality show.
Matt Wiman vs. Jim Miller – another possibly great matchup. I’m picking Wiman to win.
Luigi Fioravanti
Ben Saunders by JKD
Corey Hill by being 6’4″ and 155lbs.

UFC Cuts JON FITCH From Roster — WTF?!

MMAMania broke the news, and it’s a ridiculous decision by the UFC to cut Jon Fitch. Also, Dana White is supposedly pissed off at the entire AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) group of fighters, and won’t be doing business with them anymore. According to Kevin Iole, Dana White said he will keep AKA welterweight Mike Swick because he said Swick called him and told him he wants to keep fighting for the UFC. However, as Jon Fitch and heavyweight Christian Wellisch were cut, heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez and welterweight Josh Koscheck could be next.

Seriously, what the hell? Fitch said Wednesday that the reason he was cut was because he wouldn’t sign a lifetime contract to allow the UFC to use his name and likeness in a video game. He said he “simply didn’t understand the need to sign a lifetime contract, particularly since it would not pay his family in the event of his death.” Futhermore, Fitch said this has nothing to do with money and that he’s never caused a problem for the UFC. “He wanted us to sign that merchandising agreement, and it was not a very good agreement,” Fitch said. “There was not really a reason for us to sign it. The first thing they brought to us was for us to sign all of our rights away for everything forever. It was for very small compensation, and there was no compensation for family members if we were to die…We could die and they could make memorial figurines and stuff and make thousands, millions of dollars, and our families wouldn’t see a penny of it. The way they bring the contracts and stuff to us, I don’t know, it’s just not how business is done.”

Dana White is quoted as saying “Affliction is still out there trying to build its company. Let him go work with them. Let him see what he thinks of those (expletive). F**k him. These guys aren’t partners with us. F**k them. All of them, every last f**king one of them.”

Jon Fitch has an outstanding record of 17 wins and 3 losses. He went undefeated in the UFC for 8 fights before losing a decision to Georges St. Pierre in a welterweight championship fight.

You know something isn’t right when Jon Fitch gets cut and Brock Lesnar and his 2-1 record (1-1 UFC) gets a title shot with Randy Couture.

Meanwhile, we’ve got Dana White cussing up a storm, and members of The Ultimate Fighter cast drinking each others piss and eating semen tainted food, they make Junie Browning seem normal and classy. Wonderful. Let’s not forget the stupid “Condom Depot” advertisements that fighters wear across the ass of their shorts.

Pure class. While bitching about the Jon Fitch/AKA fiasco, Dana White also bitched about the economy and how the fighters should get out there and find out just how tough it is in todays economy. I can tell you, he would make more money with the UFC and go mainstream a lot quicker, if he would do things a little bit differently. He could appeal to a wider audience.

Regardless, the UFC seems to be the only game in town right now, and they can try to make whoever they want disappear. I know, MMA loyalists are still wanting to see Fedor Emelianenko fight Randy Couture or Brock Lesnar. It’s not going to happen if Dana White doesn’t want it to. Why does Dana even have to let people know who Fedor is? The general public and casual MMA fan doesn’t know the name Fedor, only us who follow MMA religiously really know who he is. If UFC is the only brand with any recognition, they never even have to mention Fedor, they can let him be forgotten and tell the world that Brock Lesnar is teh greatest evah!!1

So can we count on the UFC having the worlds best fighters? Or maybe just the worlds best “yes-men”? I think Dana needs to give Rob Emerson a LW title shot. Then maybe he should give Houston Alexander a HW title shot.

UFC 90 Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Cote RESULTS

Disappointment. The fight was interesting, and Patrick Cote lasted longer with Anderson Silva than anyone else in the UFC so far. It didn’t seem like Silva was as offensive as he usually is, he was constantly backing up and letting Cote force the pressure, however, Silva still connected with precision and was winning the fight up until Patrick Cote injured his knee and couldn’t continue.

I predict we’ll see Anderson Silva fight again very soon, probably within just a couple of months, as UFC Matchmakers will want to make up to fans for tonights disappointment.

PROPS TO JOE ROGAN FOR HIS EVAN TANNER TRIBUTE BEARD.

Other results from UFC 90 are:
Pete Sell beat Josh Burkman by unanimous decision
Hermes Franca beat Marcus Aurelio by unanimous decision
Dan Miller beat Matt Horwich by unanimous decision

Forrest Griffin Is The New UFC Light Heavyweight Champion

…”of the world” as he wants to be known. Forrest Griffin outpaced Quinton Rampage Jackson to win a 5 round decision. Rampage was very humble in defeat, admitting that he got his “ass whupped” by Forrest. The judges scores were 48-46 twice and 49-46 for Griffin. Forrest used his handspeed to his advantage, as well as good leg kicks that hurt Jackson, but Forrest sometimes found himself in too close with Rampage, and was in danger of being caught by a Rampage Jackson combination full of uppercuts and hooks. With the win, Forrest Griffin improves to 16-4 and Quinton Jackson falls to 28-7.

In other results from the night:
Patrick Cote defeats Ricardo Almeida by split decision
Joe Stevenson defeats Gleison Tibau by guillotine choke (2nd round)
Josh Koscheck defeats Chris Lytle by unanimous decision (a bloody ass fight)
Tyson Griffin defeats Marcus Aurelio by unanimous decision
Gabriel Gonzaga defeats Justin McCully by kimura (1st round)
Cole Miller defeats Jorge Gurgel by triangle choke (3rd round)
Melvin Guillard defeats Dennis Siver by KO (1st round, 36 seconds)
Justin Buchholz defeats Corey Hill by rear naked choke (2nd round)
