FightZone TV To Sponsor RFC 23 “Breaking Point”

Real fighting Championships (RFC) , Florida’s oldest active MMA promoters, presents their 23rd live cage fighting event in Tampa Bay on March 18, 2011 sponsored in part by FightZone TV.

This will be a night of drama, excitement, and entertainment with 9 action packed cage fights.

The Main Event is Undefeated Patrick “Lights Out” Cenoble 5-0 record vs. UFC’s TUF veteran Paul “The Wheel” Barrow with a 4-1 record.

Both fighters have a strong MMA background.

Cenoble is trained by the fighting Bertos’ Tigers World who produce nothing but champions, Berto says “he is the hardest hitting 155lb in the world, no one in Florida can beat him.” Cenoble is fighting for a shot at the vacant light weight RFC title.

Barrow was a fighter on the UFC Spike TV show the Ultimate Fighter (TUF), trained by UFC fighter Matt Arroyo and Rob Khan from Gracie Tampa. Barrow needs this win for a shot at the RFC title and national exposure. Both of these training camps bring fighters that have pride, experience, and excitement.

This fight is rated as a top ten fight in every MMA, magazine, and radio networks in Florida.

Co main event: Tom “Showtime” Crowther. vs. Jared Crawford

This is Crowther’s pro MMA debut having been a former boxer, MMA promoter and 50 yr. old cancer survivor. Crowther says he “trains harder than a 25 year old fighter, looks better than majority of them, and refuses to fight someone his age.”

Crowther, who fought for his life after being diagnosed with cancer and beat the odds, now is looking to defeat the odds again, as he faces a young opponent in James Crawford. Says Crowther “I will beat Crawford as I beat cancer because this time it’s it for fun.” In his corner will be the famous former UFC fighter Dan “The Beast” Severn.

Crawford’s pro debut background includes wrestling and ground and pound. Trained by well known Chris Hickman, Crawford says he “has respect for older people but will slap grandpa around before he takes him to the ground for a submission .”
This fight is shaping up to be to be the “fight of the night.”

Other fights on the action packed card include:
Rocky Shallcross vs. Mike Rideout.
Shallcross, 170lb from Ocala. FL is a stand-up fighter with one punch knockout power.
Rideout 170lb is also a stand-up fighter who likes to go blow for blow and see who’s standing at the end.

Joe Valdez. Matchmaker states “this will be a crowd pleaser as both fighters will go punch for punch with both having tremendous knockout power.”

Heavyweight bout : Kevin Shane Brooks vs. Mike “The Animal” Greeson

Shane with a record 9-7 from Georgia wants to be known in Florida and wants RFC to give him a title shot at the RFC heavy weight title.

Greeson 3-0 a MMA stand up fighter and pro boxer with a 2-0 record, in his last fight in the RFC knocked out and broke opponent’s leg with one punch. He is one of if not “The” hardest hitting heavyweights in Florida.

Joe Johnson (Gracie Tampa) vs. Travis McGee (USA Martial Arts Of Ocala)

Josh Conner pro-debut joining two of his brother who are pro MMA fighters vs. Stephan Cummins who won “Fight of the Night” in the last RFC event. This will make for a perfect storm.

Andrew Conner (Gracie Barra) undefeated 2-0 135lb vs. Geane (La Pulga) Herrera Spartan Gym – home of RFC middleweight champion Yosmany Cabezas. Trainer Bill Banks believes Conner is the best 135lb he has ever trained and is better than the RFC middle weight champion when he started.

RFC favorite Alex Cruz is aggressive and his best punch “overhand right” is deadly. He is trim, lean and ready to fight out spoken Robert “Black Irish Red” Washington who has waited a long time to fight in the RFC. He comes from a hard life a foster child with no mother or father all of his life. Finding mixed martial arts has made him who is today — a changed man and an asset to society with a passion to fight. Now he can fight without getting in trouble and get paid for too.

J “Lightning” Lee needs to win or find another career. His favorite move – fast, flying kick comes from Tiger’s World training by former RFC light weight champion Edson “Little Tiger” Berto, Lee needs to win to keep his career open in the MMA world with a rematch vs Calvin Martin.

RFC promotes some of the best fights in the state of Florida with fighters from around the world.

Outback Steakhouse, a longtime supporter of U.S. military troops, has committed to donate $1 million to Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization that provides emergency and morale support for active troops, veterans and their families.

Operation Homefront also hosts the Web community, Operation Homefront Online, at www.HomefrontOnline.com.

Play the FightZone TV Game “Where In The World Is Jay Adams?”

With the explosion in MMA Events and the rapid expansion of FightZone TV’s roster of Promoter Partners, FightZone TV’s co-owner and head commentator, Jay Adams is rapidly becoming the Matt Lauer of MMA.

Having just finished events for Pro Battle in Arkansas, Art of Fighting in Tampa, Intimidation in Cincinnati, Vendetta in Aruba and X1 in Hawaii. Jay is preparing to leave to call the Action Fight League event at the Seminole Hard Rock in Ft. Lauderdale (9/25) then headed to Washington, DC for Ultimate Warrior Challenge (UWC (10/03) , California for Pure Combat (10/17), back to AOF in Ft. Myers, FL (10/23) and Belfast Ireland for Cage Wars Championship UK (CWC) (11/29).

Jay is on TV more than the Geico Caveman. Maybe they could do The Amazing Race together.

FightZone TV, now airing every day somewhere in the US, is available to over 25 million homes on Fox Sport Networks’ Sun Sports (FL), Sport South (GA, AL, MS, TN, NC, SC) and nationally on DIRECTV, The Dish Network and ATT U-verse.

AT&T U-verse is being expanded in California thanks to legislation supported by California Legislators. The “Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act of 2006″ signed by Gov. Currently airing on FightZone TV is UWC “Capital Punishment” which features UWC Bantamweight Championship: Mike “The Hulk” Easton against Josh “Taz” Ferguson. Also on the card were: War Machine vs Reshad Woods; Joey Kirwan vs Marcus Foran; Damian “The Reach” Dantibo vs Ron “Choir Boy” Stallings among others. FightZone TV To Air Art Of Fighting Event featuring Kimbo Slice Slayer Seth Petruzelli

The Event will be held At USF Sun Dome in Tampa, FL on August 22nd and taped for a later airing.

Art of Fighting is proud to present its fourth mixed martial arts (MMA) event in the state of Florida and its first event in Tampa Bay. After three successful events in Sarasota, to include the first ever MMA light heavyweight Florida State Title, Art of Fighting has put together a bout worthy of a large scale venue in Tampa. Marcio “Pe de Pano” Cruz vs. Tom “Trauma” Sauer for the first ever WFO World Title and a Headline Bout worthy of large scale attention, Seth “The Silverback” Petruzelli vs. Tampa Area police officer Chris Baten.

CRUZ VS. SAUER
Sherdog.com, the most visited MMA website, rated this fight one of the top 10 in the WORLD to see!

Marcio Cruz is a 6’4″ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom who has conquered the world’s best fighters inside the cage to include current UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, UFC Veteran Dan Christison, and Japanese legend Mu Bae Choi. However Marcio Cruz is better known in the Jiu-Jitsu community as a six time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, 5 time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion, and 8 time Pan-American Champion. Also as a world class grappler, “Pe de Pano” has defeated Jeff “The Snowman” Monson, Roger Gracie, Paulo Filho, Marcelo Gracie, and many others.

Tom Sauer is a 6’1″ Greco Roman Wrestler with outstanding striking and submission ability. He has over 40 professional MMA fights and has beaten some of the best in the world including Jeff “The Snowman” Monson, Enson Inoue, Crafton Wallace and many more in his 30 professional wins. “Trauma” is on a 5 fight win streak and has hoisted himself as the hands down number one heavyweight in the state of Florida and possibly on the east coast. What may be more astonishing is Tom Sauer has Tourette syndrome. Outside of the cage he has very noticeable symptoms but inside the cage he is focused and poised as a possible world champion should be. Tom Sauer was featured on the VS channel Tapout show (Season 2 Episode 9) as the trainer of the recent winner of the Florida State Light Heavyweight Title Holder, TJ Cook.

This bout will be the first ever WFO(World Fighting Organization) world title. The WFO is the same sanctioning body as the IBO (International Boxing Organization), who’s boxing champions include Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao, Vladimir “Dr. Steelhammer” Klitschko, and Chad Dawson. The IBO is looking to sanction MMA and aid in its lacking rank structure. Many believe the future of the sport is run through sanctioning bodies like the IBO and the Art of Fighting is proud to host the first ever World Title for the WFO.

PETRUZELLI VS. BATEN

Seth Petruzelli is a seasoned MMA fighter with appearances in the WEC, UFC, and EliteXC. Petruzelli is well known as the “Kimbo Killer” after his October 2008 destruction of street fighting youTube star Kimbo Slice. Petruzelli wasn’t even scheduled to fight Kimbo, but after a cut opened above MMA legend Ken Shamrock’s eye, Seth “The Silverback” Petruzelli stepped in to fill his spot and fill it he did. Now seen as the “Rocky” of MMA, Petruzelli KO’d Slice in an astonishing 14 seconds of the first round in front of a stunned crowd of millions on CBS. The August 22 bout at the USF SUN DOME will be Petruzelli’s first fight since defeating Kimbo Slice.

Chris Baten is no Kimbo. Baten is a seasoned MMA fighter who has made appearances in the now extinct IFL. At 205 lbs. Baten will be an entirely different opponent for Petruzelli as fans should expect to see a standup war. Baten is also a Tampa Area police officer who has a large following in the area. Baten will seek to defeat a big time name in the sport cementing his name as one of the world’s best fighters.

OTHER MATCHUPS
Other matchups include the IFL vet Delson “Pe de Chumbo” Heleno versus the heavy handed pride of Kansas Tyler Stinson. This fight is going to be extremely exciting as Stinson has already put on a great show of skill in his first AOF vicotry against the Swiss Muay Thai Champion Yasubey Enomoto. Delson Heleno is an extremely well rounded fighter who brings a nuclear amount of energy into the cage. These two fighters are amongst some of the other elite athletes to be in the Sun Dome on August 22.

UPDATE:

EliteXC star American Top Team Trainer, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo black belt Nicolae “Armor” Cury slated to fight WEC vet Justin Haskins at 170 lbs.

Lightweight State Champion, Eric Reynolds has been just added to the card to fight Ireland’s Greg Loughran. Both fighters did a short stint on ESPN Deportes’ Bellator Promotion. Eric is the Florida State Lightweight Champion, the belt is not on the line since Loughran is not from Florida.

TV
AMP Film Studios, a division of Active Media partners, has negotiated a distribution agreement for Art of Fighting 4 – Cruz vs. Sauer. The show, produced by AMP Film Studios Creative Director, Edward Isin, will be available in its entirety in over 44 million homes in the US, Canada, and parts of Mexico and the Caribbean using Pay Per View On Demand services on popular cable and Telco outlets, including ATT Uverse, Verizon Fios, Time Warner, Cox Communications, Comcast and More.

FightZone TV Reaches 500th Airing Milestone With UWC “Man ‘O’ War.”

FightZone TV, in their third year of broadcasting the Best of MMA Programming from around the country, will celebrate their 500th airing on FSN affiliates this month with “Ultimate Warrior Challenge’s (UWC) “Man ‘O’ War,” an event that was so packed with exciting fights, it had to be split into two hour and a half shows.

Production values on these shows rival anything on the air today. Promoter Marcello Foran spared no expense to bring UWC fans the best video presentation possible and FightZone TV is proud to bring this historic event to their viewers.

The Washington, DC show was taped before a SRO crowd on February 21st, 2009 at the George Mason University Patriot Center Arena in Fairfax, VA breaking all UWC attendance records.

Of course, FightZone’s Jay Adams was cageside to call all the action along with Bloody Elbow’s Luke Thomas. Another UWC/FightZone first was reached when the show was streamed live for free on www,Sherdog.com, the world’s premier MMA site, to over hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Highlight include:
Mike Easton in the UWC inaugural bantamweight title against late replacement Justin Robbins substituting for a totally unexplained “No Show” by scheduled headliner Bebe Chase.

In the co-main event, IFL veteran Jamal Patterson took on TUF alumni Antwain Britt.

Other action saw John Dodson vs. Jose Villarisco, an exciting but controversial “No Contest” in the fight between TUF vet Richie Hightower and Marcus Foran resulting in a confirmed rematch in the next event.

A definite crowd pleaser was the women’s fight between Moroccan born Iman Achhal and HIT Squad’s Felice Herrig, a first for UWC.

UWC’s next show “Capital Punishment” takes place April 25th, also at the Patriot Center, tickets for which are on sale now. Visit www.uwcmma.com for more information.

Coming soon on FightZone TV, look for Pure Combat “Backyard Brawl” from Tulare, CA, which was also hosted by Jay Adams and shown live on Sherdog, Pro Battle MMA “Return To Glory ” from Ft. Smith, AK, Mainstream MMA’s “Pinnacle II” from Iowa

FightZone TV August Schedule

Over the past 2 years FightZone TV has brought MMA fans the finest in regional fights from around the country, but this month we have the extreme pleasure of presenting the best production ever with Ultimate Warrior Challenge UWC 3 – “The Invasion” from Washington, DC airing nationally throughout the month of August on FightZone TV.

UWC Promoter, Marcello Foran, already known for his first class productions and Celebrity packed shows pulled out all the stops in the largest MMA event ever held in the Washington, DC area.

The Video Production and Graphics rival or surpass any MMA event ever televised. And did we say Celebrities in the house? How about Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (taped previous to his recent troubles), Andre “The Pit Bull” Arlovski, Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit, Hermes Franca and Mauricio “Sho Gun” Rua to name a few.

The Fight Card certainly lived up to the hype featuring Pete “Secret Weapon” Spratt, Jason “Live Wire” Von Flue, Thomas Schulte, Zach Light, Carlo “Neo” Prater, Marcelo Brito, Aaron Riley and Thiago Minu just to name a few.

Fight Zone’s Jay Adams was there to call all the action along with MMA Celebrity Commentator UFC/Pride Veteran Frank Trigg.

In addition to the event broadcasts, FightZone TV Presents the latest Jay Adam’s “Brawl Call” show which this month features an exclusive interview with Banner Promotion’s President, Art Pelullo. Jay was in Las Vegas for the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale when he caught up with Art before the “Free for All, A Night of Combat” which was the first combined professional boxing and mixed martial arts show at the Thomas Mack Center in Las Vegas. Some very interesting insights from one of the sport’s premier boxing promoters on the explosive growth and appeal of MMA.

The current issue of FightZone Magazine is available in its entirety at www.FightZoneMedia.com along with the latest MMA and Boxing News, Worldwide Fight Links, OnLine Shopping, Hot Links to Events and one of the largest Fight Galleries in the world with over 30,000 photos.

Florida’s Berto Family Making History

Bertos Fighting Family Makes History at RFC XIII
By Nancy Evans – FightZone Media

Fight History was made in Tampa, FL as the First Family of Fighting Champions, the Bertos from Winter Haven, FL added yet another fighter to their family legacy…..Revelina “Nana” Berto won her Pro MMA debut at Real Fighting Championships’ (RFC) XIII “Title Bound” at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, FL on Friday, July 11th.

Nana is the daughter of legendary Trainer and former fighter, Dieuseul “Tiger” Berto and sister to Undefeated WBC Welterweight Boxing Champion Andre Berto (22-0, 18 KOs), RFC MMA Lightweight Champion Edson “Little Tiger” Berto, and Cleveland Berto, the former Florida Wrestling Champion.

Andre and Edson also made Fight History last year becoming the first brother team to ever have their fights televised nationally on the same night – Andre in New York On HBO Boxing and an hour later Edson on Showtime fighting for EliteXC in California.

RFC Matchmaker Joe Valdez paired Nana against Jessica Bednark, an IFL Kickboxing veteran. Nana’s victory came via squeezing the air out of her opponent like a giant anaconda. Submission via front choke is the “official” term from the Battlebase network coming at 2:36 in the first round.

Of course the whole Berto clan ringside and Tiger’s World of Martial Arts’ J. Lee and students who were there to support Nana went berserk along with the entire partisan sold out crowd.

And as usual at an RFC Event the audience was packed with sports celebrities such as Shaquille O’Neal (there to support his Gracie Orlando Team); WEC bantamweight champion, Miguel Torres; Kickboxing Legend Olando Rivera; Pro Boxer (and now movie star). Jeff Lacy; UFC TUF’s Matt Arroyo, RFC, IFL veteran Chris Baten, Carlos “Rooster” Gonzalez; and of course Fight Zone’s own Jay Adams and Nancy Evans.

Proud papa Dieuseul Berto was seen smiling from ear to ear the rest of the night.

Congratulations to Nana and also Andre, who now holds the belt vacated by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and to the entire Berto family on their hard work and contribution to the sport.

FightZone is proud to have been part of this memorable night and wish the Bertos continued success as well as RFC Promoter Jason Freyre, Matchmaker Joe Valdez and Executive Administrator Denise Oldham, who every time out continue to set the standard for MMA live events.
