Lack of blog posts…

Obviously, even though there have been some tremendous fights to talk about over the last couple of weeks, I haven’t made any posts. That will hopefully change soon. I have been extremely busy with other things, and I also need to get off my ass and upgrade everything on this site.

Off the top of my head, some things I’ve missed.

Tim Credeur and Nate Quarry are both badass.

UFC Fight Night 19 was great.

This season of The Ultimate Fighter looks like it really might be the best one yet.

Mayweather needs to fight someone his size. I was hoping for Pacquaio, but a Shane Mosely fight would be good too.

Herschel Walker signed a contract to fight for Strikeforce? I think it’s awesome, even though others are acting like they don’t care. I like watching these celebrities and non-MMA athletes get in the ring. I say non-MMA, but supposedly Herschel has been training MMA for several years now, and also has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

VITOR! (although I am a big Rich Franklin fan)

I’m sad for CroCop, but the dude is no doubt tough as nails, he took a serious beating, and it looked to me like he got his orbital bone broken, ouch.

UFC 97 Results: Chuck Liddell vs. Shogun Rua / Anderson Silva vs. Leites

Well, Chuck Liddell got KTFO again. Damn. Get well soon, Chuck. I wish he’d get back on a winning streak, somehow.

Anderson Silva was semi-impressive, in the fact that he didn’t get punched nearly at all, in five rounds of fighting. He won a unanimous decision over Thales Leites. Was Silva trying to finish the fight? Or is he just happy to get a decision?

Other results from UFC 97 are:
Sam Stout defeated Matt Wiman (robbery decision, imo)
TJ Grant defeated Ryo Chonan by decision
Mark Bocek defeated David Bielkheden by choke in round 1
Ed Herman defeated David Loiseau by decision
Nate Quarry defeated Jason MacDonald by TKO in round one
Denis Kang defeated Xavier Foupa-Pokam by decision
Eliot Marshall defeated Vinicius Magalhaes by decision
Luiz Cane defeated Steve Cantwell by decision
Cheick Kongo defeated Antoni Hardonk by TKO in round 2
Krzysztof Soszynski defeated Brian Stann by Kimura in round 1
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua defeated Chuck Liddell by TKO in round 1
Anderson Silva defeated Thales Leites by decision

The Ultimate Fighter: 2 Episodes In One Night

The Ultimate Fighter wasn’t on last week due to the holiday, but this week they showed two episodes back-to-back to catch us up.

I think at the beginning of tonights episode, the narrator Mike Rowe called Ryan Bader “Bryan”.. not that it matters, just what I noticed. I also think Nogueira calls him Bryan sometimes.

Anyway, first fight of the show is Ryan Bader vs. Eliot Marshall. Gawd what a shit fight, imo. Bader score tons of takedowns, but did ZERO with any of them, I kept expecting him to ground-and-pound, but he didn’t do shit. Sure, he controlled the fight, and won, but damn. I sure hope we don’t see him win like that much more. He literally looked almost asleep laying & praying on Eliott’s chest.

Phillipe Nover defeated George Roop, as expected.

Vinny submitted Krysztof Soszynski with an armbar. I was hoping Krysztof would win this, but now I really hope Vinny submits Ryan Bader quickly at the finale, or we’re in for a long boring fight with Bader on top avoiding submissions. However, if Bader had been fighting Vinny earlier instead of Eliot Marshall, he would have been submitted already. Where Marshall was having trouble pulling an omoplata, Vinny won’t have a problem. As soon as Bader is just being lazy in Vinnys guard and puts his hand on the mat, Vinny will get the omoplata and at least take control — in other words, I don’t think Bader will be able to lay-and-pray to control Vinny like he did Eliot Marshall, but we’ll see.

And finally, it was nice to see Junie Browning choked to submission.
