Whoa! UFC 141 Lesnar vs. Overeem – Results+

Wow, I’m not sure why Brock didn’t try harder for the takedowns. I’m obviously in no place to coach, but I saw him trying to trade strikes with Overeem way more than I would’ve thought. In fact, I think it was Brock Lesnar who threw the first kick of the fight. I figured on Lesnar charging like a bull at Overeem and driving him to the ground. Regardless, it didn’t work out well for Brock. Overeem hurt him several times with knees to the body, and ended it with a good shin to the liver which crumbled Lesnar to the ground, where Alistair Overeem TKO’d him. Overeem will now face Junior Dos Santos for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Brock Lesnar announced his retirement from MMA in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

In the co-main event, Nate Diaz pretty much dominated Donald Cerrone with his boxing. Diaz won via unanimous decision after three rounds.

The rest of the night went like this:

Johny Hendricks def. Jon Fitch via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 0:12
Alexander Gustafsson def. Vladimir Matyushenko via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 2:13
Jim Hettes def. Nam Phan via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-25, 30-26)
Ross Pearson def. Junior Assuncao via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Danny Castillo def. Anthony Njokuani via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Dong Hyun Kim def. Sean Pierson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Jacob Volkmann def. Efrain Escudero via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Diego Nunes def. Manny Gamburyan via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

UFC 100 Results & Opinion

Why was Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago the final fight? Regardless, Fitch won a unanimous decision.

Brock Lesnar looked great again, as he did against Couture. He smashed his way through Frank Mir for a 2nd round TKO. We need to see a Part III to make Lesnar/Mir a trilogy.

I’m very glad Georges St. Pierre was victorious over Thiago Alves. It will be interesting to see who GSP fights next. Anderson Silva?

Dan Henderson absolutely smashed Michael Bisping into unconsciousness. Hendo landed his trademark overhand right to Bispings jaw and knocked him out, but wait, there’s more! (I typed that with pitchman Billy May’s voice in my head). After Bisping was already on his back KO’d, Dan Henderson flies in (literally, his whole body in the air) with a gnarly forearm smash to Bispings face, all 185lbs of Dan Henderson came crashing down on Bispings dome. Bisping laid there asleep for several minutes.

Yoshihiro Akiyama defeated Alan Belcher by judges decision

I’m glad to see Mark Coleman defeated Stephan Bonner by decision. I’m not happy that they didn’t show the fight on the PPV broadcast. Sounds like Coleman’s gas tank was ok?

Jim Miller defeated Mac Danzig by decision.

Jon Jones submitted Jake O’Brien by guillotine in round 2

Dong Hyun Kim defeated T.J. Grant by decision.

Shannon Gugerty defeated Matt Grice by guillotine choke in round one.

Tom Lawlor got submission of the night for his guillotine victory over CB Dollaway in round one. Tom Lawlor also had the weirdest entrance of the night (VIDEO BELOW–and the guy on the leash in the video is Seth Petruzelli).

UFC 100 Picks

First of all, the main event of the night for me will be Bruce Buffer doing a 360 spin as he introduces the fighters.

I’d like to see Tom Lawlor kick CB Dollaway’s ass, but I’m not really thinking it’s going to happen. I feel basically the same way about Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesnar…I’d like to see Frank Mir win again, but I don’t really think he’ll be able to…but how shocking would it be if he somehow KO’s Brock Lesnar and leaves him unconscious?

Jon Jones is going to destroy Jake O’Brien. Jones seemed unstoppable last time he fought.

I have Jim Miller beating Mac Danzig..

MARK COLEMAN over Stephan Bonnar…WTF? The UFC website says this fight “May not be broadcast”…my ass.. it better be broadcast.

Alan Belcher will defeat Yoshihiro Akiyama.

I seriously hope Dan Henderson KTFO of Michael Bisping.. I predict Bisping running and backing up much of the fight, refusing to exchange punches.

Jon Fitch will win his match against Paulo Thiago.. and I just noticed we have two guys named “Jon” on this fight card.

I’d love to see Georges St. Pierre get a dominant win over Thiago Alves, and set up a future bout with Anderson Silva.

As I already said, I’d enjoy seeing Frank Mir get a tapout, or an unbelievable knockout over Brock Lesnar…I just can’t see it happening again, but I seriously hope I’m wrong.

UFC 94: Penn vs. GSP Results

Tonights UFC is dedicated to Helio Gracie. Respect.

Clay Guida vs. Nate Diaz – I hope this is an awesome fight. I’m not picking a winner, I like both dudes. How can anyone not love Clay Guida? Rogan is talking about Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler and talks about how much Lawler has improved since that fight, so obviously we will see Robbie Lawler back in the UFC soon. Back to this fight, I give round one to Clay Guida for a good takedown, good GNP, and even a full-nelson into side mount to land elbows! Round two coming up…and it was another good round, won by Guida, in my opinion, just for controlling most of it, although Diaz had some good judo throws in the round. Round 3 was good, with Diaz getting the best of the striking early on, but then Guida again took controll and maintained it through the end of the round. Looks like it will be Guida winning a decision…and indeed it is, Clay Giuda wins a split decision.

Dong Hyun Kim vs. Karo Parisyan, bro. - Both dudes are notable judo guys, so this might be interesting…but it wasn’t. Another split decision, Karo Parisyan is the winner. I thought Dong won the first round, but rounds two and three were tough to score.

Jon Jones vs. Stephan Bonnar – WAR BONNAR! imo…but damn, Jon Jones is legit. He kicked that ass throughout round one. However, Bonnar started a comeback in round 2, and I give round 3 to Bonnar. Still, for his performance in the first round, Jon Jones gets a unanimous decision victory.

Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva – Both guys are undefeated…but not after tonight…unless there is some weird draw, which I guess is possible with Machida? However, I am pumped for this fight. Machida is such ninja. WOW, ninja he is! Machida just threw Silva down on the mat and followed up with a punch to the chin on the ground, to KTFO of Thiago Silva at the very last second of round one. Lyoto Machida wins by KTFO.

BJ Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre – Well, basically BJ Penn got his ass kicked for 4 entire rounds, and his corner stopped the fight between the 4th and 5th rounds. I was under the impression they were going to fight to the death, but I guess not. GEORGES ST. PIERRE wins by ass kicking after 4 rounds.

Ummm….did I just hear Joe Rogan mention Fedor Emelianenko on a UFC broadcast?

UFC 88 LIVE Commentary

Yeah, not play-by-play, because I’m lazy.

1st fight on the main card is Matt Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim. Matt Brown’s entrance music is awesome and appropriate – Devil Went Down To Georgia by Charlie Daniels. Also, Dong Hyun Kim’s college major is JUDO. That is pretty awesome. The first round was great, back and forth, but mostly with Kim getting the best of it. I give round one to Dong Hyun Kim. The second round seems like someone messed with Matt Brown’s copenhagen or something, he is definitely winning round two, beating Kim in the Thai Clinch. Less than a minute left in round two and Dong Hyun Kim seems really tired. Kim has taken some nasty body shots. Round three ends with more elbows to the body from Matt Brown. Round three starts and uh oh, Kim took Matt Brown to the mat and has knee-on-belly, but Matt Brown is able to stand back up. Kim is having more luck with his takedowns in round 3. Matt Brown is bleeding from his face now, Kim landed an elbow, but I don’t think it was enough to win. Who knows. Maybe a split decision. Matt Brown asks his corner “do you think I won?” — I think so, but some could argue rounds one and three went to Dong Hyun Kim. Damn, Matt Brown has a gnarly gash under his eyepiece. JUDGES DECISION: Dong Hyun Kim.

Martin Kampmann vs. Nate Marquardt – Martin Kampmann is the real Slim Shady. Anyway, I’m predicting another judges decision for this fight. Hopefully I’m wrong. Kampman OH SHIT Marquardt with the head kick, will Kampmann survive? Damn, I was just about to say Kampmann landed a nice right hook before Marquardt kicked him in the dome. Ever since, Kampmann has been taking nasty strikes. KAMPMANN down and the fight is stopped. Wow, they were just talking about Martin’s great stand-up game, but after getting caught with the headkick from Marquardt, he never fully recovered and Nate continued to flurry all kinds of strikes at him before referee Mario Yamasaki stops the fight. NATE MARQUARDT wins via TKO.

Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares – WARRR Hendo. Also, Big Boi from Outkast is in the audience sitting next to Rampage Jackson. Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik. Crumblin’ Herb. Hendo is going apeshit with Palhares on his back, Hendo trying to land bombs, but lets Palhares get back to his feet. Good kick by Rousimar, but Hendo punches back, nice spinning heel kick attempt by Rousimar Palhares but it didn’t land. Finally they close in on each other again, and Palhares throws some good strikes himself, punches and kicks, Hendo knocks him down again and throws more bombs, but they’re both back up now. These dudes fight when they get close, damn Palhares gets a takedown and has now side control, now in Hendo’s half guard, only 10 seconds left in the round though. Great round. I want Palhares to lose simply because he’s wearing that stupid Condom Depot ad on his ass. Round TWO Palhares is winning this round so far, he had Hendo is a gnarly heel hook just a second ago. Score a vicious takedown before that. He’s on his back now with Hendo going for some kind of choke. Lets him up and tries to land an uppercut. Palhares might be tired, hell they both might be tired. Henderson is back in Palhares guard now. Referee stands them back up due to a lack of action on the ground. 30 seconds left in the round. Dude am I seeing Joachim Hansen in Dan Henderson’s corner? I can’t tell but I’m seeing some pale white dude with arm tattoos. No, I’m pretty sure it’s not Joachim Hansen. Ok, we’re in round 3 now. Nothing has happened in round 3. One minute left. oh damn and Hendo knocks Palhares down but lands in another leglock, Hendo escapes and they’re back to their feet. The fight ends with Hendo throwing bombs at Palhares on his back. This will be a unanimous decision victory for Dan Henderson. If it’s not, something is wrong.

Joe Rogan in the audience interviewing Randy Couture. Randy says the same stuff you’ve already heard him say about the upcoming fight with Brock Lesnar.

Now we get to see an unaired preliminary fight featuring Tim Boetsch vs Michael Patt. It seems obvious that Boetsch wins by the way Mike Goldberg led us into the fight “earlier tonight we welcomed Tim Boetsch” or something like that. Maybe I’m wrong. Nope, I’m right. First round knockout for Tim Boetsch. Thanks for the spoiler, Goldberg.

Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill – damn I like watching both of these guys win, I don’t really have a favorite for this fight. Should be a great matchup too, in my opinion. Both dudes from Ohio I think, and are friends, but hopefully that won’t be noticeable in tonights fight. Ok, I’m rooting for Matt Hamill now because he’s playing Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” for his entrance music. AWESOME. Ok, all the action happened within the last minute of round 1. Hamill got a takedown, nearly got armbarred by Rich Franklin, Hamill defended well, caught a knee to the face from Rich Franklin on the way back up, kinda looked like it might’ve been an illegal knee, dont know though, will have to see it again. ROUND TWO starts. I don’t know why the hell Matt Hamill isn’t going for more takedowns. Franklin is way outstriking. Referee pauses the fight to check a cut on Rich Franklin, looks terrible, but they let the fight continue. Joe Rogan says Franklin lost a big chunk of meat. lol. Franklin is kicking Hamill’s ass right now though, because Hamill isn’t going for takedowns as often as he should. Franklin just kicked Hamill in the balls also. Hamill is going for takedowns now, but not getting them. Hamill is a tough mofo though. ROUND THREE starts. Rich Franklin just ended the fight with a great kick to Matt Hamills ribcage/liver. Fight over. RICK FRANKLIN wins by TKO.

Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans – LOL @ Rashad Evans doing the GSP nipple twist before the fight. Greg Jackson must teach them to do that. Holy shit, let me tell you what the hell just happened. My fucking COMCAST cable company just quit on me and my Pay-per-view went out during the damn Liddell/Evans fight. Assholes piss me off. Anyway, Chuck Liddell threw another damn body shot leaving his guard down and Rashad Evans connected to his chin and knocked him the fuck out. RASHAD EVANS WINS BY KNOCKOUT.
