Chuck Liddell has said he is done fighting, but he is now one of the UFC’s top executives as their Vice-President of Business Development.
Chuck Liddell has said he is done fighting, but he is now one of the UFC’s top executives as their Vice-President of Business Development.
Yep…that is awesome. Chuck Liddell will be a contestant on the new season of Dancing With The Stars on ABC. I remember seeing him in the audience once before, when Willa Ford was a contestant on the show.
Dana White posted the news from his Twitter account a little more than an hour ago. He says “Hey guys chuck liddell and charles “mask” lewis will be inducted into the ufc hall of fame at the ufc fan expo this friday at 630pm”
I suppose they’ll have a small ceremony on the pay-per-view at UFC 100?
Both guys definitely deserve to have spots in MMA’s Hall of Fame.
I’m thinking so. Rogan and Goldberg sure were pushing the “goodbye” angle tonight at UFC 97, they kept letting us know that it was possibly the final time Liddell would step into a cage. Ok, we get it already? Chuck said he wasn’t sure, but Goldberg says it’s the end of an era. Whatever. Seems like they’re trying to make his decision for him.
Well, Chuck Liddell got KTFO again. Damn. Get well soon, Chuck. I wish he’d get back on a winning streak, somehow.
Anderson Silva was semi-impressive, in the fact that he didn’t get punched nearly at all, in five rounds of fighting. He won a unanimous decision over Thales Leites. Was Silva trying to finish the fight? Or is he just happy to get a decision?
Other results from UFC 97 are:
Sam Stout defeated Matt Wiman (robbery decision, imo)
TJ Grant defeated Ryo Chonan by decision
Mark Bocek defeated David Bielkheden by choke in round 1
Ed Herman defeated David Loiseau by decision
Nate Quarry defeated Jason MacDonald by TKO in round one
Denis Kang defeated Xavier Foupa-Pokam by decision
Eliot Marshall defeated Vinicius Magalhaes by decision
Luiz Cane defeated Steve Cantwell by decision
Cheick Kongo defeated Antoni Hardonk by TKO in round 2
Krzysztof Soszynski defeated Brian Stann by Kimura in round 1
Mauricio “Shogun†Rua defeated Chuck Liddell by TKO in round 1
Anderson Silva defeated Thales Leites by decision
Watt Wiman over Sam Stout
Ryo Chonan over TJ Grant
Mark Bocek over David Bielkheden
Ed Herman over David Loiseau
Nate Quarry over Jason MacDonald
Denis Kang over the Savate Kickboxing dude
Eliot Marshall over Vinicius Magalhaes
Steve Cantwell over Luiz Cane
Antoni Hardonk over Cheick Kongo
Brian Stann over Krzysztof Soszynski
Chuck Liddell over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua
Anderson Silva over Thales Leites
i have a bad habit of picking who i want to win, and not who will probably win.. oh well.. how long can Anderson Silva’s winning streak stay intact?
Yeah, not play-by-play, because I’m lazy.
1st fight on the main card is Matt Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim. Matt Brown’s entrance music is awesome and appropriate – Devil Went Down To Georgia by Charlie Daniels. Also, Dong Hyun Kim’s college major is JUDO. That is pretty awesome. The first round was great, back and forth, but mostly with Kim getting the best of it. I give round one to Dong Hyun Kim. The second round seems like someone messed with Matt Brown’s copenhagen or something, he is definitely winning round two, beating Kim in the Thai Clinch. Less than a minute left in round two and Dong Hyun Kim seems really tired. Kim has taken some nasty body shots. Round three ends with more elbows to the body from Matt Brown. Round three starts and uh oh, Kim took Matt Brown to the mat and has knee-on-belly, but Matt Brown is able to stand back up. Kim is having more luck with his takedowns in round 3. Matt Brown is bleeding from his face now, Kim landed an elbow, but I don’t think it was enough to win. Who knows. Maybe a split decision. Matt Brown asks his corner “do you think I won?” — I think so, but some could argue rounds one and three went to Dong Hyun Kim. Damn, Matt Brown has a gnarly gash under his eyepiece. JUDGES DECISION: Dong Hyun Kim.
Martin Kampmann vs. Nate Marquardt – Martin Kampmann is the real Slim Shady. Anyway, I’m predicting another judges decision for this fight. Hopefully I’m wrong. Kampman OH SHIT Marquardt with the head kick, will Kampmann survive? Damn, I was just about to say Kampmann landed a nice right hook before Marquardt kicked him in the dome. Ever since, Kampmann has been taking nasty strikes. KAMPMANN down and the fight is stopped. Wow, they were just talking about Martin’s great stand-up game, but after getting caught with the headkick from Marquardt, he never fully recovered and Nate continued to flurry all kinds of strikes at him before referee Mario Yamasaki stops the fight. NATE MARQUARDT wins via TKO.
Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares – WARRR Hendo. Also, Big Boi from Outkast is in the audience sitting next to Rampage Jackson. Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik. Crumblin’ Herb. Hendo is going apeshit with Palhares on his back, Hendo trying to land bombs, but lets Palhares get back to his feet. Good kick by Rousimar, but Hendo punches back, nice spinning heel kick attempt by Rousimar Palhares but it didn’t land. Finally they close in on each other again, and Palhares throws some good strikes himself, punches and kicks, Hendo knocks him down again and throws more bombs, but they’re both back up now. These dudes fight when they get close, damn Palhares gets a takedown and has now side control, now in Hendo’s half guard, only 10 seconds left in the round though. Great round. I want Palhares to lose simply because he’s wearing that stupid Condom Depot ad on his ass. Round TWO Palhares is winning this round so far, he had Hendo is a gnarly heel hook just a second ago. Score a vicious takedown before that. He’s on his back now with Hendo going for some kind of choke. Lets him up and tries to land an uppercut. Palhares might be tired, hell they both might be tired. Henderson is back in Palhares guard now. Referee stands them back up due to a lack of action on the ground. 30 seconds left in the round. Dude am I seeing Joachim Hansen in Dan Henderson’s corner? I can’t tell but I’m seeing some pale white dude with arm tattoos. No, I’m pretty sure it’s not Joachim Hansen. Ok, we’re in round 3 now. Nothing has happened in round 3. One minute left. oh damn and Hendo knocks Palhares down but lands in another leglock, Hendo escapes and they’re back to their feet. The fight ends with Hendo throwing bombs at Palhares on his back. This will be a unanimous decision victory for Dan Henderson. If it’s not, something is wrong.
Joe Rogan in the audience interviewing Randy Couture. Randy says the same stuff you’ve already heard him say about the upcoming fight with Brock Lesnar.
Now we get to see an unaired preliminary fight featuring Tim Boetsch vs Michael Patt. It seems obvious that Boetsch wins by the way Mike Goldberg led us into the fight “earlier tonight we welcomed Tim Boetsch” or something like that. Maybe I’m wrong. Nope, I’m right. First round knockout for Tim Boetsch. Thanks for the spoiler, Goldberg.
Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill – damn I like watching both of these guys win, I don’t really have a favorite for this fight. Should be a great matchup too, in my opinion. Both dudes from Ohio I think, and are friends, but hopefully that won’t be noticeable in tonights fight. Ok, I’m rooting for Matt Hamill now because he’s playing Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” for his entrance music. AWESOME. Ok, all the action happened within the last minute of round 1. Hamill got a takedown, nearly got armbarred by Rich Franklin, Hamill defended well, caught a knee to the face from Rich Franklin on the way back up, kinda looked like it might’ve been an illegal knee, dont know though, will have to see it again. ROUND TWO starts. I don’t know why the hell Matt Hamill isn’t going for more takedowns. Franklin is way outstriking. Referee pauses the fight to check a cut on Rich Franklin, looks terrible, but they let the fight continue. Joe Rogan says Franklin lost a big chunk of meat. lol. Franklin is kicking Hamill’s ass right now though, because Hamill isn’t going for takedowns as often as he should. Franklin just kicked Hamill in the balls also. Hamill is going for takedowns now, but not getting them. Hamill is a tough mofo though. ROUND THREE starts. Rich Franklin just ended the fight with a great kick to Matt Hamills ribcage/liver. Fight over. RICK FRANKLIN wins by TKO.
Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans – LOL @ Rashad Evans doing the GSP nipple twist before the fight. Greg Jackson must teach them to do that. Holy shit, let me tell you what the hell just happened. My fucking COMCAST cable company just quit on me and my Pay-per-view went out during the damn Liddell/Evans fight. Assholes piss me off. Anyway, Chuck Liddell threw another damn body shot leaving his guard down and Rashad Evans connected to his chin and knocked him the fuck out. RASHAD EVANS WINS BY KNOCKOUT.

THE TAPOUT CREW CONTINUES THEIR SEARCH TO FIND THE NEXT MMA SUPERSTARS
Season Two of TapouT to Premiere July 24 on VERSUS on Demand;
Network Debut Scheduled for July 30 at 10 P.M. ET
New York (July 9, 2008) – VERSUS, the network that celebrates real competition, will debut the second season of the hit reality series TapouT on Thursday, July 24, on VERSUS on Demand and on Wednesday, July 30, at 10 p.m. ET on VERSUS. The second season includes 10 one-hour episodes that follow Mask, Punkass and Skyskrape—the crew behind the premier mixed martial arts clothing and gear line TapouT—on their cross country travels in search of the next MMA superstar. TapouT is produced by Pilgrim Films, of American Chopper and Dirty Jobs fame.
Traveling around the country in a tricked out tour bus, the crew is on the hunt to discover a fighter who has what it takes to represent the TapouT label; but before these up-and-comers fight their way out of the cage, they have to fight their way in with the TapouT crew. The crew bonds with their fighter as they test out his personality and, in between the usual TapouT mayhem, makes sure their new protégé gets the proper training before the big fight. In each episode, it’s all on the line as each fighter gets one shot to impress the crew and show off his skills in the cage.
“Since its debut a year ago, more than 40 million viewers have tuned in to see TapouT and we’re optimistic that the second season will have even greater success,†said Marc Fein, Executive Vice President of Programming, Production and Business Operations for the VERSUS. “This hugely popular original reality series, in conjunction with the monumental growth we’ve seen with our live World Extreme Cagefighting telecasts, solidifies VERSUS as one of the premier television destinations in the MMA category.â€
In the season two premiere, the TapouT crew travels to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to ‘The PIT’ to see one of John Hackleman’s up-and-coming MMA fighters, Scott Lighty. Scott is accompanied by his best friend and training partner, Glover Teixeira and the crew quickly realizes the potential Glover has, and decides to sponsor both Scott and Glover who are fighting on the same card. UFC legend Chuck Liddell, who is both Scott and Glover’s trainer, makes a special guest appearance.
“MMA has exploded, and our Crew has been there since the beginning finding and supporting fighters,†said TapouT Founder Mask. “TapouT shows viewers what goes down on the road and lets fans be a part of the action. There are unbelievable fighters with incredible stories, as well as TapouT friends old and new, including MMA superstar Chuck Liddell and UFC President Dana White.â€

Yep, MMARated.com is reporting that Rich Franklin will move up to light heavyweight and fight Matt Hamill at UFC 88.
This will be an interesting fight, and should be a great war, but it’s not really a fight I was hoping to see. Hell, I’m still upset that Matt Hamill won’t get another shot at Michael Bisping, but oh well, that’s history. I’m a fan of both Hamill and Franklin, so I hope they both bring their best to the fight and put on a great show. The main event of the night will be Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans.
If you saw the UFC “Ultimate Iceman” special on SpikeTV, then you saw Chuck Liddell’s brother Dan on the show. He is a big dude. 265lbs. Dan Liddell will be making his pro MMA debut at PureCombat: Hard Core on August 15 in Visalia, California.
HARD CORE is coming and they’re not going to play nice!…August 15th at the Visalia Convention Center…with the main event sure to appease a hungry crowd. Emanuel “Hard Core Kid” Newton, who fought Kyacey Uscola for the Gladiator Challenge Light Heavy Weight belt and won and has also fought in the IFL, is fighting UFC Veteran and Ultimate Fighter Season 1 competitor, Lodune Sincaid. Emanuel is on a 6 fight winning streak, and is known for his love of slamming his opponent to the mat as many times possible. He is equally efficient in his striking and his ground game while Lodune has fought guys such as Nathan Quarry, Kyacey Uscola, James Irvin and Doug Marshall. Lodune is sure to push Emanuel to his limits to see what he’s really made of.
Scott Lighty, who styles his striking after his training partner Chuck Liddell, has an impressive record of 23-8-2 (6 KO’s) in the K-1, steps into our cage for the second time to further his 2-0 MMA career. You may have seen him at our event Feb. 29th in Visalia where he devastated Paul Mince in the main event with his vicious strikes and overbearing ground and pound that ended the night with Lights Out for Paul.
http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/scott-lighty-vs-paul-mince/7676614
We have an equally exciting under card with another one of Chuck Liddell’s teammates, Cruz Gomez. With only one fight under his belt since his 6 year absence from the cage and after losing to a controversial decision against Isaac de Jesus in May at the Bring The Pain event in Stockton, he’s very eager to take a fight and finish it. Also we have debuting in our cage, Dan Liddell..and at 265 lbs his opponent will have to be equally massive to go against his gigantic stature and overpowering strength.
Don’t miss a night of explosive mixed martial arts action as 20 of the state’s best fighters as well as stars on the rise, steps into the cage at the Visalia Convention Center Friday, August 15th. The doors open at 6pm and fights start at 7:30pm. For tickets, call 559-713-4040 or go online at www.purecombatmma.com.
The weighins for this event will be at the Cellar Door in downtown Visalia on the corner of Main St. and Court. Come early and be a part of the filming as Knockout TV brings their High Definition cameras capturing the crowd and the fighters as they prepare for the next evenings event. The weighing in officially starts at 8PM but come early and be a part of the excitement.
We will be having an after party in the Ballroom of the Convention Center immediately following the fights…There will be full bars and food available and the music from the Central Valley’s own DJ Chris…..With a special $1000 bonus being given away to the fighter who had the “Best Move of the Night”. We just don’t want the night to end but to have the opportunity for everyone to hang out, talk, dance and maybe get a picture with your favorite fighter of the night.

ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP® HEADS TO ATLANTA FOR
UFC 88: BREAKTHROUGH
CHUCK “THE ICEMAN” LIDDELL vs. “SUGAR” RASHAD EVANS
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2008 LIVE FROM PHILIPS ARENA
Tickets On Sale Saturday, June 21 at 12pm ET
Las Vegas, NV (USA) – Home to some of the greatest fighters in mixed martial arts, the UFC® light heavyweight division is without question the most competitive in the sport. On Saturday, September 6th, two of the weight class’ best – legendary former champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and unbeaten rising star “Sugar” Rashad Evans – will finally meet in the Ultimate Fighting Championship® organization’s historic first trip to Atlanta for UFC 88: BREAKTHROUGH, live at Philips Arena.
“Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans is a battle between the former champion looking to get a shot at reclaiming his crown and the undefeated contender looking to earn his first title shot,” said Dana White, UFC President. “Chuck is a great wrestler and Rashad has shown improved striking skills so there is no way of telling what will happen when two fighters of this caliber collide. This is going to be another incredible fight, and I am so excited to bring UFC 88 Atlanta.”
Originally scheduled to face off against each other on June’s UFC 85 card in London, a torn hamstring sidelined Liddell and forced him to withdraw from his bout with Evans. But if anything, the additional wait has steeled the resolve of both men to not only win this fight, but to end it in spectacular fashion for the loyal UFC fans of Georgia.
UFC 88 marks the organization’s first event in the state since Augusta’s UFC 13 show in May of 1997, and it’s first ever event in Atlanta. To kick off this inaugural event, White stated he will hold a UFC 88 press conference with Liddell and Evans in downtown Atlanta next Tuesday, June 24, and that later that day, the two fighters will attend an autograph session at Lenox Mall from 2 to 4pm ET.
Tickets for UFC 88: BREAKTHROUGH will go on sale Sunday, June 21 at 12 Noon ET and will be priced at $604, $404, $254, $154 and $79. Tickets for UFC 88 will be available at Philip’s Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com or by calling 404.249.6400.
UFC® Fight Club™ members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to this event Wednesday, June 18 at 10am ET via the website www.ufc.com. A special Internet ticket pre-sale will be available to UFC newsletter subscribers Friday, June 20 starting at 10am ET. To access this presale, users must register for the UFC newsletter through www.ufc.com.
UFC 88: BREAKTHROUGH is available live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH Network, TVN, Bell ExpressVu, Shaw Communications and Viewer’s Choice Canada for a suggested retail price of $44.95 for standard definition or high-definition broadcasts (where available).
One of the biggest stars in American sports, Chuck Liddell (21-5) is a fighter who needs no introduction to fight fans. Fresh off a thrilling three round win over Wanderlei Silva last December in a fight which easily lived up to over four years of expectations, the 38-year-old – owner of knockout wins over a Who’s Who of 205-pound stalwarts, including Randy Couture (twice), Tito Ortiz (twice), Renato Sobral (twice), Jeremy Horn, and Kevin Randleman – continues on his quest to regain his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship from Quinton “Rampage†Jackson; but to get there, he has to get by Evans, only the third undefeated fighter Liddell has ever faced.
“I’m excited to be back in training, and I’m excited to have this Rashad fight back on – I’m going to put pressure on him and put him
down, because, unfortunately everyone has to have their first loss,” said Liddell. “It’s been a white since I fought on the East coast, so I’m looking forward to going out there and giving this knockout to Atlanta.”
Evans (16-0-1) burst on the UFC scene in style in 2005 when he won the heavyweight division of season two of The Ultimate Fighter®, winning four fights en route to the title. Dropping back to his natural weight class at 205 pounds, he has kept the momentum going with five wins and just one controversial draw against former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz in July of 2007. Among his victims are standouts Stephan Bonnar and Jason Lambert, and in his most recent bout at UFC 78 last November, he pounded out a three round decision win over previously unbeaten British star Michael “The Count†Bisping. Now Evans has his sights on taking down a UFC icon on September 6th.
“I’m honored to fight Chuck, it’s good to fight someone who has been where you want to be. This is going to be a tough fight though, I know someone is gonna be finished, and I think it’ll be Chuck,” said Evans. “I’m excited to go to Atlanta, I’ve heard great things about the city, I’ve never been there before, but I know there’s no better way to experience a place than to have thousands of people all there to see you fight.”
The remaining bouts for UFC 88 will be announced in the near future. All bouts live and subject to change. For further information on the UFC visit ufc.com or uk.ufc.com or ufcespanol.com.
I don’t even know where to begin with his article, but I’ll start by pointing out that the writer thinks MMA and UFC are rival companies, so his opinion really isn’t credible. Here is a link to his complete article, but I’ve voiced my opinions about it below.
Here are some of Greg Cote’s ignorant statements:
“This form of fighting is all but bare-fisted, with less-than-gloves covering the knuckles. Anything goes, including kicking. (I suppose eye-gouging might or might not be frowned upon).”
Even kicking? OOOOH NO THE END OF CIVILIZATION! What is his opinion on kickboxing? I’m guessing Mr. Cote has really never watched an MMA event, he obviously has no clue about what the rules are. He also says:
“Pardon my not swelling with civic pride over one of our own hitting the big-time at last for what amounts to legalized criminality”
Legalized criminality? Give me a break, so is boxing if that’s the case. So is auto racing (speeding), and much more. He thinks boxing is “refined and genteel” in comparison to mixed martial arts. Does he not realize boxers are trying to knock each others heads off? Sure, that sometimes happens in MMA, but there are so many other ways to win, I would have to say the science of MMA is way more refined, and possibly more genteel considering a fight can end in 30 seconds with neither fighter being seriously injured. As true fans know, in the sport of mixed martial arts, a fighter can simply get caught in an armbar and tap out before he is seriously hurt. Not possible in boxing, where the loser must stand in there for 12 rounds and get his head busted repeatedly, or get knocked unconscious before a winner is declared.
Mr. Cote also asks in his article “Whatever happened to Chuck Liddell?” — more evidence he has no clue about the sport of mixed martial arts. Here is more:
“(Michael Vick), by the way, staged dogfights not much more vicious, or less civilized, than the type of combat that Kimbo and these other so-called ”freestyle fighters” shame themselves to practice. (And that we shame ourselves to watch).”
Wow, I really don’t think I need to explain the stupidity of that sentence. He is taking the subject of trained athletes who consciously make a decision to compete in sport, to Michael Vick forcing abused animals to fight each other to the death via bite wounds to the throat. Michael Vick also tortured injured animals via hanging and electrocution. I can’t believe Greg Cote is ignorant enough to make that comparison. Here is more wisdom from Greg Cote:
“It’s (MMA)Â sort of an adult version of teenagers beating up a homeless guy.”
Wow, this Cote idiot is full of intelligent comparisons, huh? Really man, you’re comparing the sport to multiple attackers beating a defenseless homeless person? Mr. Cote, you are out of control. Your article in the Miami Herald showcases your ignorance very well. You should be ashamed of some of your statements, particularly the ones that minimize the torture of homeless people and animals. Greg Cote should suffer the wrath of a Fedor armbar.
Great show, and going into the night, I was conflicted about who I wanted to win for some fights. I’m a Lyoto Machida fan, and while I’ve never really been a Tito Ortiz fan, part of me was hoping to see him win just for the controversy it could’ve caused with Dana White. However, I also didn’t really want to see Machida lose, but anyway. That fight went about how I expected it would. I got excited when it looked like Tito was going to get that triangle choke in the 3rd round, but Machida escaped perfectly. I’ve also heard people comparing Lyoto Machida’s performance to Kalib Starnes. WTF? In no way was that a Starnes. Machida is ninja, whether he’s exciting or not. (No, it wasn’t an exciting fight overall). Maybe Tito can go to EliteXC now and fight Frank Shamrock, that would be nice.
Wanderlei Silva destroyed Keith Jardine. Damn. The Axe Murderer is back. Who’s next? Will we see a Silva/Liddell rematch? Will Silva ever fight Rampage again? or will Wanderlei drop to 185lbs as a lot of people suspect he will do? That is the match-up that should happen. Wanderlei vs. Anderson Silva. I’d pay double to see that fight.
BJ Penn was able to get the daily requirement of blood in his diet from Sean Sherk. BJ kicked Sherk’s ass throughout the whole fight, and afterwards ran over to wipe blood from Sherks face, then licked his hand. The winner of Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta needs to fight Sean Sherk next.
Ok, not really mixed martial arts, but an MMA legend got a shout-out in the 1989 movie Say Anything starring John Cusack and Ione Skye. I just recently re-watched the movie (don’t ask) and noticed Maurice Smith, former UFC heavyweight champion, was mentioned. In the movie, John Cusack’s character is a kickboxer, and in one scene he rattles off the names Don “Dragon” Wilson, Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, and Maurice Smith.
Obviously Maurice Smith was a dominate kickboxer prior to the sport of MMA, but I had never noticed him mentioned in the movie before. Just an interesting piece of MMA trivia.
On that same note, you probably already know about a 12-year old Chuck Liddell appearing in the 1981 movie called The Postman Always Rings Twice. If not, the video clip is shown below:
New York, NY, May 7, 2008 — On Saturday, May 31, the best mixed martial arts programming on television will be on Spike TV, as the network presents a special night dedicated to UFC® superstar Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell. The homage to Liddell will feature two Spike TV premiere events not to be missed by true UFC fans.
At 9:00pm ET/PT, Spike presents the world television premiere of “Ultimate Iceman: Chuck Liddell,†an hour-long documentary which chronicles the life of one of the sport’s true titans, in and out of the Octagon™.
Spike then debuts a special, “Liddell vs. Silva: UFC® Unleashedâ„¢-Special Edition” at 10:00pm ET/PT featuring the never-before-seen on cable battle between Liddell and Wanderlei Silva, which was fought last December at UFC 79: NEMESIS.
This historic contest featured the matchup that fight fans waited years to see. Liddell, the biggest name in the sport and former UFC light-heavyweight champion, sought to finally answer the challenges of long-time PRIDE® superstar Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva. In addition, the special includes exclusive, never before seen backstage footage.
Fighting out of San Luis Obispo, CA, “The Iceman†is considered by most to be the biggest star ever in the history of mixed martial arts. With four successful UFC title defenses and a seven fight knockout streak proving his dominance, Liddell has beaten the best of the best in mixed martial arts, with his list of victims including Wanderlei Silva, Jeremy Horn, Vitor Belfort, as well as Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz, whom he knocked out twice each.
Liddell is currently recovering from a severe hamstring injury he suffered while training, which forced him to withdraw from a fight with “The Ultimate Fighter® 2†winner Rashad Evans at UFC 85 in June.
Spike TV will kick off this special night dedicated to the “Iceman†at 8:00pm ET/PT with a telecast of the hard-hitting special, “Ultimate Knockouts 4,†also featuring some of Liddell’s most memorable bouts.
Spike TV is available in 96.1 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks. A unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), MTV Networks is one of the world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms. Spike TV’s Internet address is www.spike.com
Watch the video below for an interview with Wanderlei Silva about his training and preparation for his fight against Keith Jardine at UFC 84.
After Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was forced to withdraw from his bout with Chuck Liddell due to a knee injury, Rashad Evans has been picked to replace him as Liddell’s opponent on the June 7th event that will take place in London, England.
