According to TMZ.com
The Orange County District Attorney has charged Rampage with one felony count of evading while driving recklessly, one felony count of evading a peace officer, three misdemeanor counts of hit and run, and one misdemeanor reckless driving. You’ll recall Rampage was driving a monster truck with a huge image of himself plastered on the side (always a bad move when you’re evading police) when he allegedly struck two cars on a freeway, hit another car on a surface street and sent pedestrians scurrying for their lives.
If convicted he’ll face three years in prison.
Now, shock of shocks. He was NOT charged with DUI. And, a few days after the incident, a pregnant woman in the car he hit on the freeway lost her baby, but Rampage was not charged for that after an investigation revealed that the miscarriage was unrelated to the accident.
Wow. The fight is scheduled to take place October 4th in Sunrise, Florida for EliteXC’s fourth “Saturday Night Fights” show on CBS. I am still a big Ken Shamrock fan, and would love to see him pull out a victory over Kimbo Slice, but I don’t see it happening. I think Shamrock will rush in and meet a punch that sends him to the mat. Referee will stop the fight, Shamrock will protest an early stoppage.
I was hoping some of the other rumors about Kimbo’s next opponent would be true. I had heard possibilities of Wesley “Cabbage” Correira, Sean Gannon, or Brett Rogers. Unfortunately, they’re feeding Kimbo a legend in Ken Shamrock.
This movie was from 1988. At about 2:58 of the video, Mel Gibson goes for an armbar from mount, but Busey defends well and ends up in Mel Gibson’s guard. Busey lands some ground-n-pound, tries to secure a “rape choke” on Mel, but instead lets Mel Gibson sink a triangle choke.

BOOOOOOO! This depresses me. As a fan of Shonie, and not a fan of Matt Major, I was hoping to see a brutal KO in Shonie Carter‘s favor, but it didn’t happen. Matt Major defeated Shonie Carter by judges decision at Cage Combat Fighting Championships 8 “Rumble in the Park†event Saturday in Fresno, California. According to Sherdog:
The contest was essentially a 15-minute kickboxing match with a lot of clinching. Major (4-1) landed repeated high kicks but did little visible damage to his durable opponent. Carter attempted the only takedowns of the fight, and Major thwarted them easily. Both men relied heavily on kicks, and for once, Carter’s strikes were not as flashy as his foe’s.
Carter (44-18-7) fought southpaw and revealed after the match the he believed he had broken his wrist in the first round. He staggered Major with a straight right hand in the first but did not threaten the prospect again.
“I didn’t know where the hell I was,†Major said. “He really had me in trouble.â€
In the end, Major stayed busy enough to clinch the unanimous decision and pass one of the toughest tests of his young career. Judges scored it 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.
Regardless of this fight, I don’t predict Matt Major having any kind of successful future in the sport of MMA, unless he keeps threatening lightweights to kick their ass in the parking lot.
According to TheMMANews.com, Kenny Florian is “suspicious” of Roger Huerta being slippery. Here is the quote from Kenny Florian:
To be honest he was really slippery and I don’t mean that like technically-wise, he was really slippery. I don’t know, I don’t want to speculate and say that something was used or whatever but he was just hard to hang on to and that was from all the positions. Even when I had him in like a headlock or a guillotine everything was just really slippery. When I get the position, when I get mount, when I get back-mount, I’ve fought and I’ve wrestled some of the best guys on the ground from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission wrestling to MMA and when I get those positions you’re not getting out and Roger was able to get out. It was pretty slippery so I was a little surprised. Just the first time I was mounted on him and he gave his back I was a little suspicious, I knew something was up. Who knows, all I know is I’m good at keeping those positions and I know the difference between sweat and something else and it felt like something else but who knows. (Jokingly) Maybe it’s Albolene left over from the day before from the weight cut!
This is one of the most awesome stories. These kids probably would have got their asses kicked if the cops hadn’t stopped them. Homeboy at the end says they just had the weapons so they would look “as ninja as possible.” Seriously, these dudes are awesome. Their names are Jesse Trojaniak and Tadeusz Pertkiewicz. They say they are “Shinobi Warriors, to be exact”.

SAN JOSE, Calif. —Twenty-four year old thoroughbred Cory “The One†Devela (9-1) will bid for his eighth consecutive victory when he takes on what is arguably his most dangerous challenge to date, heavy-handed Terry Martin (17-5), in a middleweight (185 lb. limit) contest during Strikeforce’s mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza at the world-famous Playboy Mansion on Saturday, September 20th.
“I know he’s a short little brick house and a good wrestler, but I’ll have a lot or reach on him and I don’t think anybody’s wrestling compares to mine,†said a confident Devela, who stands 6’2†compared to the 5’8†Martin. “People underestimate my wrestling. Joe Riggs did and got thrown because of that. I’m going to do the same thing to Terry if he wants to wrestle with me.â€
It was his victory over Riggs, a certified MMA star, at Strikeforce’s debut card in Tacoma, Washington on February 23rd that gained Devela national recognition. Locked in close quarters with Riggs, Devela executed a throw that left his opponent on his back, temporarily incapacitated. The injury prompted Riggs to verbally submit at the 1:22 mark of the first round.
Since being armbarred on June 3, 2004 by Ed “Short Fuse†Herman, the eventual runner-up on season three of Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter†reality series, Devela has not suffered a defeat. According to the rising star, his surge can be attributed almost entirely to his four years of training under MMA superstar Dennis Hallman.
“Dennis runs practice almost like a wrestling practice and I’ve been a wrestler since elementary school so I learned the same way he teaches,†explained Devela. There’s a lot of live activity whether we’re wrestling or sparring kickboxing.â€
Devela’s opponent, Martin, is a testament to human fortitude and one’s ability to overcome a troublesome past. A former gang member, he survived five gun shot wounds that nearly took his life at age 15 on the streets of his native Chicago, Illinois, and has since earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and pursued a dual career in professional boxing and MMA. At 28 years old, he is a candidate for a master’s degree in psychology.
“When I was in the hospital recovering, I was around people who were shot in the same places as me, but who couldn’t walk or who lost their limbs as a result of what happened.,†explained Martin of what drove him to make such drastic changes in his life. “Some of them even passed away. That really made me think twice and start hanging out in a different environment.â€
Martin’s determination and spirit caught the eye of another Chicago-based MMA champion in “Mr. International†Shonie Carter while Martin was wrestling competitively for his soon-to-be alma mater. Carter introduced Martin to the local MMA scene and, soon after, a new career was born.
Amongst the notches under Martin’s belt are wins over top contenders Chael Sonnen, Ivan Salaverry, and Jorge Rivera.
“Fighting has always been a part of me. I come from a fightin’ family,†said Martin. “You have to be aggressive to make it in MMA. I’m aggressive and agile and I think I have a very entertaining style.â€
“Strikeforce At The Mansion II†will also be highlighted by a showdown between 2006 Pride Fighting Championship Grand Prix winner and world top 10 ranked, Kazuo “Grabaka Hitman†Misaki (20-8-2), and 25-year-old former UFC star, Joe “Diesel “Riggs (28-10).
Strikeforce World Light Heavyweight (205 lb. limit) Champion Bobby Southworth (9-5) will face the greatest challenge of his nine-year mixed martial arts (MMA) career when he puts his belt on the line against superstar Renato “Babalu†Sobral (30-7).
Newly crowned Strikeforce World Lightweight (155 lb. limit) Champion Josh “The Punk†Thomson will also return to action against an opponent that has to be named. The event lineup will be comprised of 10 bouts.
In addition to a full night of MMA action, all “Strikeforce At The Mansion II†guests will be entitled to a top-shelf, open bar; buffet-style, gourmet dinner; and wine-tasting party featuring the spirits of various California gold medal wineries.
Strikeforce wrote a new chapter in sports history when it produced the first-ever MMA event at the Playboy Mansion last September. Amongst the host of celebrities who attended the affair were Playboy Enterprises Founder, Hugh Hefner and “The Girls Next Door;†comedians Gary Shandling and Joe Rogan; actress and model Jaime Pressly; actors Michael Duncan Clarke, Christina Fulton, Ethan Suplee, Ernie Hudson, and Page Kennedy; MMA legends Royce Gracie and Bas Rutten; and superstars Cung Le, Frank Shamrock, Josh Barnett, and Andrei Arlovski.
All inquiries regarding tickets for “Strikeforce At The Mansion II†should be directed to Dan Guiterrez at Strikeforce’s corporate headquarters (Ph # 408-998-8232.)

Train like LT, or train with Kimbo, whatever. In this video, see them both bench press air conditioner units, and spar with a refrigerator. Props to Rear Naked News for the find.
I say hell no, and I’d like to see him added to the UFC heavyweight division, but according to a report, an episode of Taggradio.com with Roy Nelson, he said in an interview that UFC matchmaker Joe Silva told him he needed to lose weight and gain muscle, and that he doesn’t have the “UFC look”. Ridiculous. Regardless of looks, Nelson easily deserves to be in the UFC heavyweight division.

Nice. According to MMARated.com, former UFC Octagon girl Rachelle Leah will indeed be naked this time, as opposed to her 2006 appearance in the magazine as “Babe Of The Month” where she was wearing far too much clothing.
On a sidenote, here is a photo of her, where again, she could be wearing less clothes.

Tune in to ESPN tonight at 7pm EST to watch E:60, my TVguide.com listings say they will have a segment on Lee Murray and the “history’s biggest cash heist.”
Holy shit, Butterbean is even larger than he was when he fought Pat Smith and fell down and couldn’t get back up. Here is a battle between Butterbean and Cabbage at the 2008Â K-1 World Grand Prix.
Now, my thoughts. Referee Steve Miragliotta still sucks beyond belief. Did he really poke Heath Herring in the eye during the staredown? Give me a break, Miragliotta, how does it feel to be known as the shittiest ref in the sport? In all fairness, I didn’t see the actual eyepoke, I just saw Herring turn away from him, I said “what happened” and then I heard Rogan and Goldberg talking about Dan Miragliotta poking Heath Herring in the eye. WTF.
Also, I noticed Goldberg is keeping more stats on the fighters now. For instance, tonight I learned nobody has ever passed Jon Fitch’s guard in the UFC (prior to tonights fight). Also, GSP has a 80% takedown rate. I think Goldberg even mentioned a takedown defense percentage. Kinda interesting stuff I guess.
Kenny Florian put on a technical clinic for Roger Huerta, and in my opinion, totally dominated the fight.
Brock Lesnar is a giant LNP machine. Ok, maybe thats unfair of me to say, after all, he did try to crush Heath Herring’s ribcage with knees, and he punches like a mule kicks, but was still unable to finish Herring. Props to Herring for being a tough SOB.
I was really hoping to see Manvel Gamburyan break off one of Rob Emerson’s limbs, but oh well, Emerson KO’d him in like 12 seconds. In case you’re not aware, Robert Emerson is the spoiled little rich kid who gangs up on innocent people at gas stations, with 12 of his friends.
