GYMKATA

When I was 9 years old, this movie was awesome. I think I watched it 100 times back in the day. Gymkata starred that olympic gymnastics dude Kurt Thomas, and the plot was that he would go to some country and compete in a “Surviving The Game” kinda contest.

Does anybody else remember “Surviving The Game” with Ice-T in it?

Gymkata follows Kurt Thomas as he’s trains with martial arts guys to combine his gymnastics ability into a fighting style. He then goes to this fictional country called Parmistan to compete in their deadly endurance game/race where they have dudes dressed like ninjas chasing people and killing them if they catch them during the race.

Anyway, I just watched the movie again last night for the first time in years. Here’s the trailer if anyones interested.

The Return Of Evan Tanner! Will Fight Yushin Okami At UFC 82

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner made the announcement yesterday through a Myspace bulletin. Maybe Evan Tanner will provide a spark in the UFC middleweight division. I think he has a style of fighting that could possibly beat current champion Anderson Silva, however, Tanner will need to win a couple of fights before that match can happen. Anderson Silva also will have to get past Dan Henderson to retain the title belt.

Evan Tanner will make his long-awaited return to the UFC on March 1st, versus Yushin Okami at UFC 82. This is the same event that will feature Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson, so it should turn out to be a great show for the middleweight division.

We haven’t seen Evan Tanner fight in two years now, as he has publicly battled alcohol (and grew an epic beard). Evan says he is back to his old self now, living healthy and training to fulfill a new 4 fight contract with the UFC.

BJ Penn Is The New UFC Lightweight Champion

BJ Penn seemed to just outclass Joe Stevenson standing and on the ground. Stevenson was cut badly by an elbow in the first round, so he had to contend with blood on his face, but even still, I’m not sure who can beat BJ Penn in the UFC lightweight division. He stopped Joe Stevenson via RNC, round 2.

CondomDepot Sponsorships Are Bad For The Sport

Yeah, yeah, I know the UFC fighters need sponsorship money, but seriously, doesn’t the “Condom Depot” ads pasted across the ass of the fighters a bit shady? I think it takes away from the legitimacy of the sport. Personally, I wouldn’t want to words “Condom Depot” written on my ass, but I guess it depends on how much cash they were offering.

Tito Ortiz As A Contestant On “The Celebrity Apprentice” Tonight @ 9pm EST

Vincent Pastore (aka “Big Pussy” on The Sopranos) > Lennox Lewis > Tito Ortiz > Omarosa

Tonight at 9pm EST a new season of Donald Trump’s television series debuts tonight with a twist, “The Celebrity Apprentice” will feature UFC fighter Tito Ortiz along with other celebrity contestants who are competing for charity. The show is planning to award more than $1 million various nonprofit charities this season. Tito Ortiz is competing for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Tito has his own successful business with his Punishment Athletics clothing line. Tonight I think he’ll be selling hot dogs on the streets of New York. Boxer Lennox Lewis is also a contestant on the show.
