Evan Tanner vs. Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister. That’s what the rumors are. We’ll know in a few days if it’s true. It’s about time that Evan returned to the UFC, that guy is a warrior. Plus he can grow a super premium beard. Dean Lister will be a tough challenge, and may even be favored to win when it comes time to fight. I personally would’ve liked seeing Tanner fight someone else as a warm-up.

The billionaire owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks says he plans to invest a lot of money in the sport of MMA, and he wants Fedor Emelianenko. This comes after reports that the UFC’s negotiations with Fedor were not looking very good. Cuban said that he plans to work with various MMA organizations to set up fights for him, or possibly even feature him in Mark Cuban’s own fight promotion, which I don’t think exists yet. Regardless, if Fedor doesn’t step up and fight soon, his reputation as #1 is tarnished for me. He needs to fight someone in the top 5 again, soon. Until then, Randy Couture is #1.

Ryan Shamrock, son of MMA legend Ken Shamrock made his MMA fighting debut on August 25th and won via submission (choke). I don’t know much about it other than that, or his weight class, but I believe he’s 140-145lbs. Regardless, he’s got a 1-0 pro MMA record so far, so good.

Getting ready to happen right now, this should be an interesting fight. I don’t really have a favorite to win. This is for the “IFA Heavyweight Championship” belt. You can bet Monson is looking to shoot and do some grappling, right now they’re just squared off on their feet, feeling each other out, throwing some soft jabs, I think Rizzo is looking to land a KO when he sees an opening, he’s keeping a wide stance and looks to be ready in case Monson shoots, there’s a low kick by Rizzo, hard left jab to Monsons grill, it looks like Pedro “Rock” Rizzo is cut above his eyebrow, that’s not surprising, Pedro bleeds a lot.

Right now, Monson is landing some nice strikes on his feet, not usually his specialty but he’s hanging with Rizzo and has him cut. Pedro Rizzo is the current IFA heavyweight champ, he lands a couple more good low leg kicks. Monson still seems comfortable boxing, uh oh there he goes for the shoot, Rizzo ends up in Monson’s butterfly guard. Rizzo is back on his feet, they’re standing back up now. Nice high kick attempt by Pedro the Rock. 10 seconds left in round 1, I got to give it to the Snowman Jeff Monson.

2nd round they’ve still been standing up for the first 3 minutes, Monson is still striking well, using his left hand nicely, good low leg kicks from Rizzo now, less than a minute left in round two. Pedro needs to knock Monson out now. Monson goes for a takedown, great sprawl by Pedro, twice, two good sprawls, round is over. I think Jeff Monson’s nose is cut, yep they’re cleaning the blood off of the bridge of his nose.

Here goes round 3. Rizzo is cut above his right eyebrow and on his left cheek. They touch gloves, Rizzo lands a decent jab, Monson with a great right hand this time, Rizzo is okay though.. Rizzo should throw more kicks, right now he should go for a right high kick to Monson’s dome, uh oh, he throws hard punches instead, Monson is out. Rizzo knocked him out. Pedro Rizzo is still the IFA Heavyweight Champion via 3rd round knockout of Jeff “The Snowman” Monson.  The referee stopped the fight after Jeff Monson hit the ground a took a couple more punches. I think Jeff Monson is protesting the stoppage a bit, but I think it was fair.

Wow, good stuff after the fight, Trigg said there was so much blood in the ring they weren’t showing it? Rizzos cut is kinda nasty looking, and now the camera shows someones tooth that was knocked out (Pedro Rizzo’s I think)
