Extreme awesomeness. Martial arts and Mythbusters, two of my favorite things. Another one of my favorite things is the red-headed chick on Mythbusters, but so far she hasn’t been on the show yet (i’ve only just started watching it, i recorded it earlier and im only about 2 or 3 minutes into the show so far).

Anyway, let me start by saying I’m definitely not a hater of traditional martial arts. I believe all forms of martial art have an important role to play in the overall art of fighting. Each art has it’s benefits, and each art has it’s drawbacks, with the exception of Mixed Martial Arts because it’s exactly that, mixed. A combination of what’s good in each art, whether it be Taekwondo, Kung-Fu, etc..

So my first impression of this show though I must admit is kinda corny, I missed the first couple of minutes or something, but I think this dude Adam is with is a some kind of ninja. Adam comes at him with some kind of lame attack and gets tossed to the ground. I suppose that could work with an average person, but not someone who is game to fight.

On to their first myth,

Can ninjas run on water? Adam made something called Mizigumo (Water Spider) that are flat wooden discs that ninjas supposedly strapped to their feet and trotted across water and stuff.. uhhh.. these things AINT gonna work worth a damn.. it didnt. lol, Adam says “the first step seemed kinda promising.”.. sorry adam, not quite.. after that myth is busted, they inform us that Mizigumo(sp?) was used more in those times for wading in rice paddies and mud flats, similar to snow shoes. However, its a known fact that Ninjas encouraged their mythical status by misleading people to believe they had super powers. Sometimes the ninja would have pre-arranged posts in canals to escape after raiding castles, etc.. why? cause ninjas own. This liquid stuff the mythbusters made with corn starch and water is awesome though, they were running across it without sinking, but would sink if they stood still on it.

2nd myth, sweet! here is the red-head chick! Her, the asian dude, and the other dude are doing a myth about a ninja catching a sword strike from Samurai in his hands without getting cut. This show is racist, they let the Asian guy win the sword swinging contest on the dummy head. Theyre gonna use some dummy hands made out of jello or something to catch the sword with.

as a sidenote, let me also say that it is no myth that i would do that red-head chick.

3rd Myth, catching an arrow in your hands? Of course this can be done, hell, I could do it with a little practice. I guess it depends on how fast the arrow is going.

MO MONEY

I’m really not a fan of Michael Bisping at all, and I like seeing underdogs win. Elvis unfortunately will always be an underdog, but rightfully so. He’s good at losing. He took one helluva beating in this fight, almost won it by accident in the 2nd round after catching Bisping with a knee, then a almost-kimura, followed by a RNC that he didnt have the energy to finish. All in all, a good fight. Props to Elvis Sinosic for that.

 

Matt Hughes and Matt Serra.

It’s going to be a Welterweight season. If you remember from the previous season, Matt Serra didn’t really like Hughes, and kept calling him a dick. Anyway, maybe it will be interesting, and I honestly believe Matt Serra could win a fight against Hughes, but if you woulda asked me that a few weeks ago I would have said no.

Money on Gabriel Gonzaga tonight, hoping his head don’t get kicked off by CroCop tonight.

She Dog cost Bodog some money in PPV sale by ruining the event for many fans. Early saturday, long before the U.S. pay-per-view aired, Shedog posted a huge photo and headline declaring Fedor as the winner of the Fedor-Lindland fight.

I personally know of huge groups of fans that decided not to purchase the Pay-Per-View event because of the spoiler, and likewise, many have sworn off ever visiting SherDog again. I think this is a shame.

wasnt he a sub for someone when he fought Forrest Griffin?, regardless, i hope he somehow embarasses Michael Bisping. They’ll probably stop the fight as quick as they can in bispings favor though, kinda like they did against Forrest Griffin.. but i wanted Griffin to win his fight, bisping i hope loses.

last week started great with the teams being picked, this week starts great with a horse busting his ass in the fighthouse driveway.

tonights show will be NOah Thomas fighting against Manny Gamburyan(Karo Parisyans cousin), i’m picking Noah Thomas to win. Most of the first half of the show is about Gabe Reudiger and Matt Wyman fueding with each other, and theyre both on BJ Penn’s team.

who gives a damn about these polls they have during commercials? they want you to text message your prediction about who would win between Matt Wyman and Gabe Reudiger. I vote for WHO CARES.

Nate Diaz is pissed because he came home and found the words “SUCK IT TEAM PULVER” written on the wall, so he’s ready to kick someones ass. personally, i hope Manny Gamburyan gets smashed in this fight, although he is kinda hilarious how nutty he is.

wow, i was hella wrong though, Manny submitted Noah Thomas in the first round, he seems to be a pretty good little fighter.

decent fights so far, right now some dude is talking about Randy Couture being at Pipeline Cafe from 4-6pm today for a meet & greet to promote his new documentary called “Fighter” or something like that.

some dude with red hair just knocked out some guy named Marshall.. fight was stopped a little early *maybe*.. but homeboy was knocked stupid for a second or two, whether or not he recovered before the ref stopped it, doesnt matter.. because the ref stopped the fight.

in between fights now theyre bringing UFC champion Randy Couture in the ring, along with Quinton Rampage Jackson, Jens Pulver, BJ Penn, Dan Henderson, etc.. like i said, theyre promoting their “Fighter” documentary.. some cool verbal threats from BJ Penn to Jens Pulver, etc.. and Rampage to Chuck Liddell.

here comes former boxer Jeremy “half man half amazing” Williams, from Fort Dodge, Iowa.. he’s fighting some dude named Charles Jones.. fight ended weird, Jeremy Williams won.. then some dude with a nasty voice came in and talked shit, Jeremy Williams said lets fight, told him to bring his nuts when they fight and reached over and touched homeboys nutsack. Weirdness.

Jason Mayhem Miller fighting now for Team Quest, fighting against some dude named Urbina.. i just missed Mayhem’s entrance because i was smoking a cigarette out back.. i almost missed the fight, because Mayhem destroyed dude on the ground with knees to the head and finally an overhand right to the dome caused Urbina to cover up and quit defending.. ref stoppage.

next fight= Lars Haven (coming out to Kid Rock’s Bawitdaba song, so i want him to win).. he’s fighting Cheruto Verissimo out of BJ Penn’s camp. Oh well, Kid Rock song dude got his ass whooped.. was a good throwdown for a minute or two though..

main even is next, Trigg vs. Lawler.. WAR Lawler from Iowa

round 1 was pretty much controlled by trigg.. round 2, lawlers on top for a change, landing a few good shots before standing up out of Triggs guard to exchange punches on the feet again..lawler just connected hard! trigg is hurt, fallin on his ass but trying to recover.. trigg has his guard back, but he got rocked hard.. ok they stand up again now, exchanging punches, trigg is hurt really bad, knees to the nose, obviously broken with blood falling out.. round 2 is definitely going to Robbie Lawler..

 damn, good fight so far.. under a minute left in rd 2, ref is standing them up for the doctor to look at Frank Triggs nose.. lawler is destroying trigg in the stand-up fight game.. but trigg wont give in, rounds over.. WOW!

here we go round 3, can trigg recover and make this an even fight now? lawler is working his jab a couple times but trigg is turning things around, landing a few but fell into half-guard.. back to the feet, more punches for a coulpe minutes..

these are two tough sunzabitches.. blood all over the place.. more punches between both fighters, end of three rounds..

here comes the 4th round, stand up punching.. decent right hook from lawler, didnt hurt Trigg.. both fighters tired as hell obviously.. throwing little combos here and there.. ROBBIE LAWLER THROWS VICIOUS COMBO

TRIGG IS OUT COLD. robbie kinda hit him late too, nothing illegal though, just an extra punch to the noggin after trigg was already KTFO.

Robbie Lawler is new ICON champ.. who will be his first defense? Jason Mayhem Miller? Robbie is the first person to hold the middleweight ICON belt on 2 different occassions..
